Sometimes, I think this youth-obsession borders on perversion with some people in the entertainment industry.
Yes, teenagers have "disposable income", just remember WHERE they get it (either Mom and/or Dad or Burger King) and if Mom and Dad don't have it and they're too young to work at Burger King...GUESS WHAT? They're either washing cars and mowing lawns, etc. like crazy to keep up with there peers or they have to get along with whatever Mom and Dad can give them. They are anything but rich. And it's not teenagers that watch the most TV. They have the internet and cell phones...if even that.
Teenagers are just teenagers. For an adult media executive to focus exclusively on them (and/or their sexuality ESPECIALLY) is just sick. It's just like that creepy old guy who says he photographs "models" and he'll give you cash, drugs or booze if you come to his house and "pose". Only legal.
The college age crowd is also getting sick of being exploited in every possible way. There is already a backlash brewing against the "Girls Gone Wild" producers and credit card companies and many colleges and universities won't let them on campus. And this crowd is not only powerful, but DANGEROUS to mess with. When they unite and say "ENOUGH!" to that...I'd listen....
We in the 30+ demo are also getting tired of being treated as stupid has-beens by people OUR AGE in the entertainment industry in the name of our kids $$$ and it's at the point now where we are about to show them WHO pays the damn bills in this country........
No, we don't want to bring back Murder She Wrote or Matlock exactly, but we are getting tired of Britney/Jonas Brothers overkill. And not everybody under 30 is talented...or good looking
