Indy 500 Could Lift Local Blackout If Race Sells Out

I can remember the whole state being blacked out,and Indianapolis not seeing until 2 weeks afterword. When my daughter was in the process of being born 30 years ago in Lafayette, Indiana, we watched the race on an ABC feed the hospital grabbed (they were in the clear back then). That was the year rain delayed the race until the following Saturday (May 31, 1986).

Fort Wayne has had the race live since that blackout, but the station that carries it, WPTA, lately has botched a lot of commercial times and run over into coverage when major events have happened. It's those times I wish I could subscribe to a commercial free ABC/ESPN feed of the race. And 5 bucks more so I don't have to hear Eddie Cheever and Scott Goodyear droning on with speculation about what drivers and teams are doing...
