INSIDE RADIO: Salem swaps WBOB/WTSJ to John Yinger for WLQV-FM in Detroit

What do we know about John Yinger?

Well, I did some research and found out that WLQV is an AM not an FM and it's a company that owns Christian stations in other markets. It looks like we may have a new station called "Victory 1050" or "Victory 1160" soon!
Edited by JeffDavis98 on 09/19/05 12:40 PM.

Just what we need

Another Christian AM station. As bad as BOB is, at least there's something of an alternative there.

Re: Just what we need

BOB does provide another alternative to the increasingly big-headed Sean Hannity and many of the other top tier talk shows...conservative and liberal. I guess I'm a little surprised to see Salem move out of this market. And equally surprised that they're doing a swap versus buying Detroit outright. They must really want to get a bigger signal in that market and perhaps are already pretty well leveraged, no?!!

Let's hope Yinger switches BOB to Sporting News Radio. Sure would be better than that b**** Laura Ingraham. Besided, my Sirius doesn't get SNR.

I'd like to hear SNR again in the market but, Music on AM.. Why, when you have 90.1 Air One and K-LOVE 104.3 covering the market with decent signals?
Edited by microbob on 09/20/05 03:12 AM.

Doesn't Paul Allen own "Vulcan Ventures", which has being buying AMs in big markets (a la WSNR/NY, KMPC/LA) to put SNR on? Same company that owns KXL in Portland. If so, he has enough cash to buy in every top 50 market! And now with Bruno, SNR sounds better than ever.

As to KRC losing Glenn Beck, don't count on it. She'd be Laura Who? if Salem didn't put her on all of their big market, little ratings talk stations. She's not a Premiere product like Beck; although I wouldn't be surprised if TRN didn't convince KRC, by way of them being the Savage affiliate, to put her on the revolving door known as 9-midnight, currently held by moneytalker Dave Ramsey. Cincinnati may be more southern than the rest of Ohio, but 55 isn't a Christian station!

Re: Just what we need

I don't think it would be Christian music, it would be Christian teaching and prayer like WTSJ

1050 is teaching and preaching now. Simulcast maybe?
