Interesting trend in top albums in the region...

For the first time in a long while the Top Albums in the Region chart is not dominated by Hip Hop / Rap / R&B:

1 - Rod Stewart
2 - Ashlee Simpson
3 - Stevie Wonder
4 - Martina McBride
5 - Alecia Keys
6 - Nickelback
7 - Kanye West
8 - Depeche Mode
9 - Kelly Clarkson
10 - Black Eyed Peas

Really interesting blend there...almost looks like a BEN play list. That's scary.

I truly think that we are in the same musical cycle that occurred just prior to grunge / rock resurgence in the early 90's. Within the next 5 years from now rock will be back...can't happen soon enough.

That is wrong. Very very wrong.

If you think that's bad, how about this: The horrid lip syncing sensation, Ashlee Simpson, is # 1 in the country! Scary, huh? Why do my fellow Americans have such atrocious, dreadful taste in music? Ashlee Simpson, Nickelback, the god-awful Black Eyed Peas ... it really disappoints me to see how low we've sunk.</P>

It is an atrocious selection of bland music. At least most of it. The point of my feedback is.....I don't know if it's me who notices the past few years, but less and less crowds standing in line at CD music stores like Tower Records, barely anybody cruising through book store's (Border's, Barne's & Noble) music section, and if they are ... there just cruising.
Best Buy, more people noticably in the DVD area or plasma TV section then the CD music section. It use to be at stores like Tower, you would at least have as many as 10 or more people in front of you , but now you just walk up in front and get rung up right away by some green haired freak in spandex.
Eithier the music scared them away or the clerks. Not just the radio industry, but the music industry has lost touch with the buying public. American Idol runs and decides the playlist and charts for the record stores and stations. I could be sarcastic, but all you have to do is look at what's displayed on the racks as the latest releases. It's some rapper you never heard of unless he's being incarcerated on the news, or it's some bleached out drugged relative of another singer that's overated, or gets by with her sleezy looks more then what her musics worth.
If it's a legendary artist like the Stones or McCartney, I have no idea why they waste their time recording an album that's not gonna be played on the radio anyway, unless if it's on some extreme demographic format.
The only good thing is that Rap/Hip Hop might show some signs of slowing down. Only to be replaced with more legendary exciting artist like Alicia Keys, Nora Jones, or Ben Folds or somebody that gets airplay on Starbucks. And even Starbucks is getting better then what's being played on the air currently.
Going to a music store and seeing the display of current hit albums and 45's dating back in the sixties, seventies, and most of the eighties is a complete different world then how music is displayed today. Today is very depressing.
