Is clear qam service now available for Comcast limited service? New Castle, IN

Is clear qam service now available for comcast limited service? New Castle, IN

At first Comcast started scrambling all the channels included limited service subscribers.

I have read that Comcast had decided to have all service areas broadcast there limited service channels in clear qam. This is unconfirmed.

I wanted to know this before I buy a new tv.

Sorry if posted in wrong forum.

You might get a better response by posting this question in the local thread for your DMA at avs forums. They usually have a good handle on individual local situations.

This just happened in Atlanta. It is sign 100% digital cable is on the way to your community (end of analog service).

The expanded basic (up to 99) is being unencryted to support new digital transport adapters (DTA), which are ultra-cheap digital boxes (no VOD, no program guide). Apparently, deploying these are much cheaper for Comcast than just giving everyone a regular digital box.

Comcast does not like to support clear-QAM. Probably because the channel numbers are 80-201 and 98-3 and 104-212 instead of channels 3, 803, or 35.

Thank you jal41.

I just hope they have to do it company wide including the old insight customers that become Comcast last year or the year before. Another words broadcast Limited service channels in clear qam. According to Frank Eliason Clear qam should work in Indiana.

I guess the other digital adapter must have failed. It was similar to the digital transport adapter and smaller. It would have to be snaked around the tv so it could get the remote signal.

The reason I posted here, is because there is a lot of people from Indiana here that used to be on the insight old system and they can check out their qam turner to see if it still scrambled or now in the clear.

The only problem is, I may have to rescan each time comcast decides to change location.

I more mad at tv manufactures than Comcast for not including a cable card slots for low end models.

If you only want to receive the unencrypted Clear QAM channels, why not just use an OTA signal?
The unencrypted QAM channels on cable are mostly just the local stations, anyway.

You posted in the right forum as I've read it and can tell you to look here.

There's quite a lot available, but is listed as unknown here. ??? You may be able to identify the channels by the photos. Or you can just go ahead and get the set and discovery what they are channel by channel. :D

Comcast Fresno has it. On there Basic service. Its only avaliable for local stations and a few selected cable networks (WGN, TBS, The Weather Channel, and ION.)
They have all of the Local HD and sub channels (No box needed) there using the same mapped channels as the OTA on the digital TV tuner. ION is on 74-3, WGN is on 74-4, The Weather channel is on 74-7.
