is KHAK one of the longest continuous FM country stations?

is KHAK one of the longest continuous FM country stations?

Read on a competing board (rhymes with Tater) that KHAK has been country on FM since 1966, with the AM simulcast of that happening in 1967. Don't know if that's true, but it would seem that KHAK may be one of the longest lived country FMs in the US.

Anyone with more definitive info please chime in...

Their Facebook page claims that they have been playing country music since the early 60's.

They may have played a little country here and there before 1966, but the format started in 66, I think in the fall. They didn't have remote control on their transmitter, so it had to be manned. They ran the country on FM from the transmitter, while the AM remained MOR from their studio downtown. In April of 67, they began to simulcast, with some of the programming still from the transmitter, like nights and weekends.
