Is PBS/WGBH Channel 2's Auction on Its Last Go-Round?

Watched the 44th Channel 2 Auction this Sunday for the "Art and Antiques" Auction. Seems to this viewer that Channel 2 was understaffed and unprepared for the Auction. They had one woman hosting it all night. Don't remember her name but she has a strong Boston accent which was annoying after a bit. The bids did not seem to be properly recorded and she would often say there were "no bids" when the Auction Board showed a dollar bid figure for that item.More unusual the Auction ended suddenly on Sunday night about 10:20 PM. Seemed like they did not have enough items to bring the Auction to 11:00 PM when it would normally end. All and all it seems the Channel 2 Auction is on its way out. Perhaps, David Ives took it with him when he passed and now it too will pass. It has lost any luster it once had with guest auctioneers and they now have to settle for Channel 2 staff to fill in.Would not be surprised if this is the LAST Channel 2 Auction.

I saw the auction come to an end tonight at 10:37pm when they didn' t have enough items left to sell off to it's 11pm sign-off, if there were more guest auctioneers and WGBH staff would do the auction, then WGBH auction in '06 would be better or they should have had the auction from 1-7pm on 44 and 7pm-1am on 2.

The Boston Globe use to report on the Ch 2 Auction but the paper was blank on any publicity.Wonder if they made their goal, whatever that was, at Ch. 2.Next year WGBH really needs to reinvent the Auction or try something else.
