ElCheapo said:The revelation that the rollout is on-track comes from last week's Radio World. The information they printed came from the HD Radio session at the recent NAB Radio Show in Dallas.
The people there said 2009-2010 would be the years for HD Radio's push into the mainstream.
Given the releases of new radios right now and the pace at which they're coming, I think that looks fairly accurate.
Oh my goodness
How many Program Directors working for much the same corporate crowd get, not one—not two, but three years in their struggling format to show an incremental increase in performance? You folks can answer that easy question I’m sure!
So 2009 is the new "rollout"? If I am to believe this projection, I must believe that a very dramatic change in the "broadcast culture" has also occurred. :-\ Even those so hopeful about the fortunes of AM-Stereo back in the 80s were not that myopic to the facts.
So I guess we can all break here for a year—make that several years, until IBOC HD finally makes its big splash.
