Is the change to 70s music only on 107,7 a good move?

Got to admit I'm shocked. I thought they were beating QMF in the ratings.

Been listening, and it sounds familiar to 93.9. Just more rock and less pop then they played. I think this will backfire on them.

They must of done a research study on the station. However it's ironic,
they talk about being classic, and the SFR name was now 15 years old.
Now we have a new name, nobody remembers 104-3 The Eagle, a bad country station,
same old songs as 107-7 SFR, Just before 3pm SFR played the song Same Old Song And Dance
from Aerosmith. Not a Classic Hit, but a Classic Rock song. So we'll see if they beat
Premium Choice Channel Q M F @ 95.7. Now Lou-A-vull's Premium Rock. ;D

and i would like to thank them for comming on the air "staffed"...without posting one job opening for the positions.

Cox installed the same format on Birmingham's WBPT in '05, switching it from their canned 80's Point format. Call letters have remained the same since then, and they called themselves the New 106-9 the Eagle for five-plus years. All in all it's not a bad format. And unlike the heritage classic rock station in Birmingham, they don't play a Lynyrd Skynyrd cut every hour---just every other hour.

I wonder if they'll change the call letters.
I don't look for a call letter change. WSFR was originally for "Star 107.7" which was kind of a classic hits station. The station started in 1996 when "Cool 103.9" moved to 107.7. Before that it was WHKW "The Hawk" playing country music. (WHKW also moved from 103.9)
On another note, it will be great not to hear hear how many commercials WQMF played last week anymore :)

I've only heard about 10 songs, but so far I can't tell any difference from the previous format. Like Dan76, I was also surprised about the change in imaging. Why blow up your "classic" brand while you're posturing about classic this and classic that? Glad to hear the jocks are still there.
