Is the Fabulous Sports Babe soon to be on overnights at '98.5 The Sports Hub' ?

98.7 The Fan in Tampa launched today and Nanci Donnellan (Sports Babe) is doing overnights complete with jingles and a flash person.

http://player.radio.com/player/RadioPlayer.php?version=1.2.14023&station=68

I know Nanci and talked to her last night and she 'hinted' she will soon be on 98.5 before the official CBS Sports Radio launch in January.

Nanci has Boston roots ( she worked at WRKO ) - but she is on overnights in Tampa for a reason - ( she could hold her own in dayparts in Tampa )

JT the Brick may well be knocked out.

They must be overjoyed over at WEEI with this news.
She was here before was she not ?
She was awful from what I recall.

JT and Looney rule !
This would be fixing something that isn't broke.

WEEI carried her syndie (ESPN?) sports show midday before they went local in that slot(they also used to
carry Imus before they let him go off to 96.9 and replaced with D&C). Jingle feat Jim Cutler--
to the tune of the funeral march: "It's Hump-day, HOO-AH! It's Hump-day, HOO-AH! Wednesday...is...Hump-day"

CBS Sports: Cumulus partnership; NBC Sports: Dial-Global (they're doing some olympics on radio);
Yahoo! Sports currently on 1510 part of the time; ESPN we know about (I see another thread said ESPN goes to 850; if that isn't a late April Fool's joke and I guess it isn't, it may have had to do with uncertainty about Howie. Now that his term at MCI Guest St as he might say got two more years
added to it (and hey I'm just having a little fun with that term :) ) they know ESPN won't be going to 680, now.

CBS btw owns the relatively new sports station in Cle. at 92.3 but the rumor is they too will be a CBS-run-sports at 98.5, if ratings are good and they can land at least one team's play by play.
The 92.3's coverage stinks comp. to the 98.5s.

Clear Channel/Premiere handles Fox....where does it go? Fox Sports 1430 (naah they wouldn't give up Mia) and I'd doubt 1200--they need to clear their poli-talk shows. (Now that it looks like RKO keeps going talk, though, you wonder if some of their shows might go to 680. I'd think not but the poss. does exist, freeing up 1200 for who knows what. I'd think they'd stay with talk on 1200 but for all we know someday we could be hearing Scott Shannon's voice proclaiming "True Oldies 1200"
but who knows!

She's still around? It's been a long time, but I seem to remember her as a female version of Eddie Andelman. Pretty bad.

Most likely this is how it will play out.

Sports Babe overnights on 98.5 as CBS has to show other stations they believe in product.

Now....would CBS force WFAN and WSCR to clear her? She will be on WIP-AM in Philly and FM will stay local. A PD in Greenville,SC might say 'Well if she is so good why does your O&O run Fox Sports?

Many believe CBS will put WSCR Chicago on FM which would free up 670 for the network.

CBS is rumored to be flipping Jack-FM in LA to Sports in the fall.

That leaves New York. I just can't see WFAN running her.

So if JT Brick gets knocked off the simple move is for 93.7 to pick him up as 850 will have ESPN.

However Wolfe on WEEI.com today did not rule out going local overnight. Pete Sheppard?

When the product is less than stellar, then you should not believe in it.
98.5 has WEEI on the ropes and should keep on punching.
This move would yield a major block of time to WEEI and for what benefit ?

no joke... I was listening to WEEI yesterday and thinking about when they first started and whatever happened to her. Her show was pretty bad. JT's still tough to listen to at times but he's reined in the excesses in recent years. I like the guy on right before him, Rob Dibble.

You mustn't be familiar with the current ratings or the performance of the stations. They're neck and neck. There's plenty of room for both stations to not only survive, but prosper and remain huge cash cows.

I'm surprised she's till alive, Ms. 5X5

It is overnight where there are no PPM numbers and no billable hours.

Seriously JT Brick has very little major market clearance - and if CBS New York tells Dave Thomas to run it....he will.

But seriously if WEEI-FM let Pete Sheppard loose overnight it would be fun. Assign one sales guy to work the overnight clients.... they are out there but you gotta ask them.

>>Ms. 5X5
I know what that reference means...made me think of a moment in the original Hairspray movie
where "Mr Pinky" (Alan Wendl), owner of the Hefty Hideaway (played by Jerry Stiller in the remake)
does a TV ad for the obese-targeted Baltimore women's clothing store: "Fatty fatty, four by four,
can't get through the kitchen door?" Hey, I was just in "Bawl'mer 'Murland" so that's still on my mind.
