Purportedly, the A Index, broadcast on WWV (and which sources say gleaned a Sunday overnight share of 73.9 among AM DXers 12+), would tell you if there would be good AM reception to the north. The smaller the A Index, the less active the Aurora ; the more likely you'd be to hear some CBC relays, or PEI or Saskatchewan.
If the A Index was 159, then you'd get stations from Colombia on graveyard channels.
Is there an FM trope or E-skip gauge available in advance anywhere? Might there be some resounding omen from some place on-line which compells you to get to the nearest set of earphones, maybe to a small snifter of Black Velvet on the ice, and to the sleeping rooster which represents your *genuine* FM DX rig?
Or is FM trope and E hit-and-miss?

Just some mild trope this past Wednesday here in NE Pennsylvania. WEBE 108 (107.9) from Connecticut was coming in around 4PM on the stock 'Fix Or Rebuild Daily' Topaz car radio.
