Yes - that's the same Rick Shaw - I remember his voice. There were a couple of DJs nationally using the name "Rick Shaw." FYI - a "rickshaw" is an English phonetic spelling of a Chinese word for a 2 person perambulator, and probably a good DJ name in those days in a large city.
Just listened to that air check - the DJ following Rick (Todd Wallace) refers to the station as
"The Big Fuzzy 610." Cute. I like that echo-chamber they process all the sound through. In the Bay Area, KYA did the same thing for awhile.
Also love the "Drake" weather jingle for Houston -
"Space City Weaaatherrrr"- A reference to the fact that NASA central was in Houston. Also gotta love Joe Allen with his
"Kilt 20/20News".
