Is this the warm up to a new country station in LA.? KRTH-101.1 Maybe?

Willie 92.5 Denver has just rebranded itself to Country Music as The Wolf.

I really like this statement by this Market Manager:
Can you believe he even said this? Tell this to the LA country music listeners or to Emmis Executives!

[“Country Music is America’s hottest growing format] and Denver has played a part
in its increasing popularity,” says Don Howe, SVP- Market Manager of CBS RADIO, Denver.

“We’ve made great strides bringing the format to the market with the support of our listeners,
and believe this move caters specifically to their musical preference and tastes."

They are going to play 40 song music sets at a time! Why didn't Emmis do this in LA.?

KWLI is owned and operated by CBS RADIO, one of the largest major-market radio operators in the United States.
A division of CBS Corporation, CBS RADIO operates 179 radio stations, the majority of which are in the nation’s
top 50 markets. Locally, CBS RADIO also owns and operates KIMN and KXKL.

Ya just gotta love these executives that speak out of both sides of their mouths!!!!!

Denver and Los Angeles are 2 completely different markets with different demographics.
What works in Denver will not work in LA.

K-Earth isn't going country so it's dumb to even start a thread about it. K-Earth ain't changing format this year.

Denver has an "Alice" station, why doesn't L.A.!!!!!!

Denver has an NFL team, why doesn't L.A.!!!!

I agree, comparing the two markets is a completely 'different ballgame'!

Different Ballgame same growing format..... LA- sells out every country Concert, LA- number 1 market for country cd sales.... the Fact that they dont offer a country option in plain stupid. and Yes I am from Southern California.

LA sold out every country concert and is the #1 market for country cd sales simply because the population is so huge. KZLA often said they were the most listened to country station in the nation, cume wise that is correct, but for market share LA is one of the very worst country markets.

HOw funny, I have been wondering EXACTLY the same thing lately!

But that still leaves the fact of the open format amongst the 15,000 Churban, top 40, spanglish, aging crippled oh i mean ac, yackers, the raggie tone deaf formats that are currently out there slicing and dicing the piece of the pie smaller everyday.
