Is Entercom buying KBLX? Tell me it isn't true! Why is nobody talking about it? What's the skinny?

Check out the coverage maps for both KGMZ and KBLX...they are almost identical. Both have problems in San Jose, so a simulcast of The Game would make zero sense. The second try at Country would not be a bad idea. At least they have an exclusive position with revenue no one else competes with.

Perhaps Entercom has plans to launch a news/talk outlet on 102.9, dealing a major body blow to KGO and Cumulus. Entercom has FM news/talkers in its stable, though they are simulcasts of established AM brands (KMBZ Kansas City, WWL New Orleans and WBEN Buffalo).
In the Bay Area, the KCBS all-news simulcast is the standard against which all is judged. Perhaps Entercom sees an opportunity given Cumulus' dismantling of classic KGO. IMHO, Entercom didn't waste $$$ to get 102.9 away from Cumulus to put on another has been music format.
Just MHO!![]()
Yes, Entercom do program large markets that have Urban AC format. Think about Hampton Roads 95.7 R&B. One thing is Entercom needs to fix the Sports station before they can change another format. 95.7 THE GAME is doing very bad in the ratings, much worse than 95.7 THE WOLF (Country).MarkW said:Does Entercom program Urban AC in any of its large markets? I am unaware of any, although it wouldn't surprise me if they do the format in a couple of their smaller markets in the south.
A contemporary hard rock format akin to KSJO in the mid/late 90's would be nice. Smooth AC or Smooth Jazz would be nice, too.
Would Bay Area country listeners (especially those in the northern half of the market) be willing to listen to another attempt by Entercom? I certainly cannot see anyone in the southern half of the market leaving 95.3 at this point after being burned by S.F.-based stations so many times!!! I would be amused if they relocated KGMZ to 102.9 and brought Country back to 95.7.
