And also around that same time he stopped doing/playing the political parody songs.
Rush continued with the parody music at least into the early Obama years (that's when I finally gave up on him).

Yeah, many saw through his facade and realized the college drop-out (like Glenn Beck) really wasn't where it was at.
Reminds me of the Bob Dyan song, Like a Rolling Stone.

That nutball Alex Jones didn't even go to college, unlike Rush and Beck who couldn't last a semester (they know better than everyone else). It's questionable he even grad'eated from high school.

So how qualified are these people lecturing us on who we should support politically?

True too! Especially when some of the pundits today are currently under investigation for getting their money from a questionable place as seen here.

You are basing your evaluation on academic degrees. While in certain technical and scientific fields, a formal education is needed, some people... Bill Gates being an example... have then intelligence and drive to make a better use of their time than sitting through boring classes.

I dropped out of my Junior year in High School to build my own first radio station in a million-plus market where it became #1 in less than 6 months. Ten years later, I went back to study sociology and finance in a double major, but dropped out just 12 credits short of a degree to take a GM position in market #12 where, again, we went #1 18-49 in one book.

Oh, and to get into college I had to do that silly GED test. In Arizona at the time it was based on a sliding scale so you could score well over 100. I got the highest overall score ever registered in the state at that time. So much for your obsessive focus on college educations.

My point: having a degree is useful, but not needed in many fields. Intelligence, smarts and a work ethic are often better, in fact.
