Is WABC’s new ownership squandering an opportunity?

Curtis is gone now, due to his run for mayor his radio show legally is apparently an "in kind" contribution from WABC and illegal as such under campaign finance laws.

Greg Kelly should be good, if he is they should give him 3-6 and see how he does vs Hannity. I predict he would do very well, as Hannity is stale, repetitive, and never has anything original or unique to say. If I was Catsmitidas I'd do this:

Keep Sid and Bernie for the morning drive 6-10.

Keep Kilmeade from 10-12.

Poach Simone from WOR for 12-3

3-6 Greg Kelly

Dump Levin since the "show" is 99% commercials anyway and replace with O'Reilly from 6-9.

Greg Kelly is excellent - should have 3 hrs. Poach Simone - YES! Sid & Bernie forever!! I miss Curtis. Kilmeade and Levin are not for me.

Greg Kelly should be in afternoon drive but I don’t know if it’s his Newsmax commitments that are preventing it or what. Then again, WABC had that planned 4p-6p show with Peter King that never materialized.

And speaking of Bernie and Sid, why do they have a 6:30am start time?

I like Bo Snerdly personally, but his show is very dull, he simply doesn't have the personality to carry his own radio show, period.
Guliani's show also stinks, he is too old and repetitive.

If Cats had any sense he'd put O'Reilly on afternoon drive from 3 to 6. I also kinda hope Curtis doesn't come back, I like him but a little of him goes a long way.

O'Reilly won't do a 3 hour show. Too much work. He had one years ago, and hated it. It was also pretty dull compared to TV.

I remember O'Reilly's radio show, I think it was on 12-3 opposite Rush, maybe 15 to 20 years ago. But at the time also he had the #1 cable news show at night, which he doesn't have anymore.

Bottom line is the current WABC hodgepodge of 1 hour shows stinks. The 3-6 afternoon of Rudy, Golden, and Cats is a joke.

But Curtis's schtick is also pretty old and tired.

Bernie McGuirk's cancer prognosis does not sound good at all. This stinks as I love Bernie and Sid, it's the best morning show in the NYC area. But the way Sid was talking today I think it is very bad prognosis for Bernie.

Also, I wonder if there is something about radio studios that causes cancer? Seems kind of odd that Limbaugh, Imus, and now Bernie all had/have cancer, and years ago Joe Pyne also died very young of cancer.
