Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World"

Jeff Rollins said he liked it.

He did not, however, attempt to pronounce the name or even say he wasn't. :D

I know I've heard it in some TV commercial.

That's a great record. I think ToysRUs used it in a commercial. I know it was used in the movies "Meet Joe Black" and "Finding Forrester."

I've been running it on KZQX for several years. When I first started, I got tons of calls. People love it. I still get the occasional call or email about his songs. There is also a version that is just "What a Wonderful World." It is great. Another good one by 'IZ" is "Coney Island Washboard."

It is good stuff. Unfortunately, "IZ" is no longer with us. He was morbidly obese, and died at a very early age. Sometimes, genius is short lived.

Yeah, that was/is one of my favourites. He also did a more "upbeat" version later on (I think it was on "Alone In IZ World") that was more "AC-sounding" but I don't think it became *too* popular. Although, Muzak does play both versions on its Hawaiian programme (DiSH Net 981) from time to time.........

"He did not, however, attempt to pronounce the name or even say he wasn't."

Kah-mah-kah-vee-voh-'oh-lay. Did I pronounce it right? ;o)

I love that version.. Can't blame anyone for not trying to pronounce IZ's last name!! I remember the song was featured in the movie "51 First Dates" - w/Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Also before I heard it in that movie, I heard it on Radio Paradise.com (they still play it) I also recently heard the song played on two AAA stations-- WEHM on Long Island NY and on WRSI The River based in Northampton, Massachusetts
