I haven't been posted since yesterday, because it was 5 years ago yesterday, Don K. Reed hosted his last "Doo-Wop Shop" on WCBS-FM back on Sunday, August 25th, 2002 from 8:00 PM until 12:00 AM.
Don K. Reed has been hosting the "Doo-Wop Shop" for 27 years on Sunday nights. He played some of the best in street corner harmonies such as The Penguins, the Tokens, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, the Moonglows, the Platters, the Cleftones, Dion & the Belmonts, the Capris, Larry Chance & the Earls, the Dubs, and many, many others.
And now, 5 years later, I'm still reflecting back to the past where I still love doo-wop after all these years when Don K. Reed played some of the best songs from the 50's and early 60's, from the early days of rock & roll. I used to listened to the "Doo-Wop Shop" every Sunday night on CBS-FM since I was a youngster right up until the very end back in 2002.
I missed Don K. Reed and the "Doo-Wop Shop" so much 5 years after it finally came to an end. It was a sad day for New York radio after all these years playing the best from the street corner.
Has anybody remembers the "Doo-Wop Shop", please post your thoughts about his last show five years ago.
