Cheryl White is okay. As time goes she is getting more comfortable with Greg Black.
The problem with AN106.7 is not so much the format clock as it is that the stations sounds like it has a format clock. When listening to the WSB-AM morning show, they definitely have a format clock, but the station does not sound like it does. The casual listener just seems to know that traffic is going to happen often along with sleepy Kirk. On AN106.7 the sounders/imaging keep announcing over and over that they have a rigid clock.
Because of the way the sounders are used on AN106.7, it makes the traffic report sound shorter. The business news sounds shorter, and on and on. The news/weather/sports/traffic stories sound shorter on AN106.7 even though in most cases they are the same length as those carried by WSB-AM.
I have been listening to WSB-AM in the mornings for awhile to see the differences. On WSB the news keeps rolling at a fast pace. There are no giant stop signs in the flow (other than Kirk Mellish). Souders happen on WSB but the announcers keep talking. When I am in my car traveling, WSB does sound superior to AN106.7. Hitting the button to move from WSB to AN106.7 is jarring. AN106.7's morning show is sleepy and slow compared to WSB.
As to the afternoon, I default to AN106.7 because I can't stand the fake news (it is really conservative talk) on WSB.
