It's official: NCIS sacks Sunday Night Football as TV's #1 show!!!

http://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/releases/view?id=34081

The final numbers are in, and as I predicted in another thread..."NCIS" has tackled NBC's "Sunday Night Football" to become the #1 program in all of television in both 18-49s and overall viewers!

We're still waiting to see how The Big Bang Theory, Dancing With The Stars, and The Voice fared for the year. But congratulations to NCIS; after coming in so close for many years (only to be beaten by American Idol and SNF), they're finally on top...and I'm sure it'll remain that way next year.

That press release is from December...

Yes; my bad.

In the meantime, The Voice has been outrating American Idol though Dancing With The Stars remains the #1 reality competition show...and the only one that's live every week (Voice and Idol don't go live till halfway in the season)!

60 Minutes is still the #1 news show, but when will the CBS Evening News ever get out of third? I mean, not everyone loves Diane Sawyer and watching Brian Williams is like sitting through a boring four-hour lecture with no visual aids.

And viewership for CBS This Morning continues to grow every week; all it needs now is for Today to do something insensitive so they could quietly creep to #2...or maybe #1!

The Voice may have helped NBC much, but not enough as they're still America's #4 Network. Maybe with Sunday Night Football followed by the 2014 Olympics plus The Tonight Show returning to New York, that could change (yeah, right).

BUT...doesn't Fox have Super Bowl XLVIII next year? Yeah, that would hamper NBC's chances alright.

Can you provide the stats for this? I'm not questioning it, I'd just like to see the numbers myself.

If so, I must admit to being surprised.

Now when will ABC step in to proclaim "Dancing With The Stars" as the #1 reality show?

Except that DWTS is some sort of talent show, not in the least bit is it reality.

And, I gave up the NFL years ago but isn't the Sunday night game on ESPN? That makes it virtually impossible to compete with a popular OTA show like NCIS.

ESPN now has Monday nights. NBC picked up the Sunday night game. This has been the case since like 2006.

My question still seems valid even if Monday instead of Sunday. It seems to me even the most popular cable program would not beat the most popular OTA (network, first run) program. The cable viewer numbers just aren't there. And sports is still a niche - a big niche to be sure but still a niche. A program like NCIS would have much more wide appeal than football (and I say this being a non-viewer of both).

What is being discussed is that Sunday Night Football, which runs over the air on NBC, had more viewers than CSI this past season. Monday Night Football is now telecast on ESPN, thus is in a completely different conversation these days.

I thought it was NCIS and not CSI.

You are correct, it is NCIS (blasted acronyms). So, just replace CSI with NCIS in my post above and take it from there.
