I've been out of the loop for a few days, so what happened to Gary McNamara?

I was out of town for a few days and and heard this horrible Julia Duffy last night on the radio. She said Ummmmm more times than I could count. So what happened to Gary?

shuffled off to the midnight trucking network, and joe Kelly shuffled off to Tulsa.

Yeah, the turntable of trial hosts is getting out of hand. Lars Larson, then Hilarie B, then Julia Duffy, then Geoff Metcalf. None of them are very good, but Lars seems to blend well into Jerry Doyle. The local folks they've tried are all pretty lame. why not just grab some more syndie fluff from ABC Radio and play it until the Stars games start, then decide later who gets the slot. Better yet, find the one thing that would make Bob Shomper happy: give HIM the slot and let him spew for 3 hours a night.

What's next.........Bo Gritz and Chuck Harder? Jon Rody could use a gig and I'm sure Bob Ray Sanders would be available. The Best of Hal Jay and old Dick Segal traffic reprts would be more entertaining than what we've heard so far.

Yeah, that's exactly the way to 'localize' the slot... Let's put a syndicated show in there...

Geez...

There's plenty of local talent to pull from. Whether they can find someone who can handle it is what's taking so long. We North Texans are a what is called "finickle"... both finicky and fickle. We only want a certain type of jock in the afternoons on 'BAP, but we will bash them as soon as they are hired.

I just know that I could name 6 people right now (many of them reading this very post) who could handle the slot. Some of them don't like me, and I don't like them, but I know they could do the job. But it ain't my decision...<P ID="signature">______________

Speaking of Bo...whats he been up to? Is he still spouting that crazy right-wing john birch/isolationism junk he's been living in since post-'nam?

I think a syndicated show until stars season will fit the bill. Then and only then they should go and fill that slot with a local host.

I listend to Gary's last show and he was saying it was a promotion since the Midnight run is nationally syndicated now.

I tend to agree with the posters here, Gary was losing steam and audience imho.

ss- shoot them a resume, I think your dry wit s just what we need in the afternoon to detox the Sean Hannity voice loop.

Who said it had to be local? Yeah, maybe it helps the local economy by putting an out-of-work soul back on the air, but one of the people you likely have in mind is not what WBAP is wanting. The winning candidate must spew the conservative viewpoint with every breath, interject religion whenever possible, and refuse callers that have opposing views. Besides, a certain person who talks on the FM dial would use the overlapping 6-7PM hour to bash his former friend relentlessly. If WBAP would pull its head out of its conservative a$$ for a moment, Kevin McCarthy would be the logical answer here. Local, entertaining, and with a built-in strong local following.

Or why not move Jerry Doyle up to the 6-9 slot and bring back John Batchelor for the 9 to midnight? ABC Radio's only other choice is Larry Elder, but since Larry backs abortion rights, you can be sure Shomper would jump off the WBAP building in the name of Jesus Bush before he'd let that happen.
