IVI-TV FAILS TO DELIVER PHILADELPHIA & ANTENNA TV

Well, we're still waiting.

IVI promised on their Facebook page on Jan. 13th that Philadelphia and Antenna TV would be added in "less than two weeks." That was 17 days ago. Now it looks as if all comments about Antenna & Philadelphia have been removed from their Facebook page.

I guess when you've got 55 stations suing you......no need to go for 66!

IVI support told me Philly would be added by the end of last week. As of last Friday they told me by the middle of this week. Antenna TV would be added with the Philly market. HD 720p would be added to some channels by the end of February.

Anyone else having problems with the Chicago channels.

Keeps dropping out every 30 seconds or so. Does not do it on any of the other channels...

They have RTV and MeToo. They do not have This (or Antenna TV).

They have This TV (MGM) Seattle. Still waiting for Philly which will include Antenna TV. They're supposed to add new markets every 30-45 days. SF and Dallas are next after Philly. They're supposed to go HD 720p for the Super Bowl (I doubt that will happen).

What happened to Chicago...........they are all unavailable tonight.
They keep promising Antenna TV & Philly, can't understand the big hold up.

At times I get this rolling grey line on the menu page......it just jumps all around up and
down......blocking sometimes 5 or 6 stations at a time. What's that? Are they overloaded?
Need more band with? More servers?

Then at other times the picture keeps freezing but the audio continues. There is no way to
get around it.........you just have to CLOSE......and come back later.

Couldn't they just Antenna from WPIX? Except for local news, the Philly stations would just be another eastern market on the service, so I'm unsure of the point of it. No real good indys from there either. As of now, Chicago is down. :(

Something about they want to do Philly & Antenna at the same time. There must
be some effort in adding channels. I was under the impression that they are getting
these signals from cable and then uploading them to the Seattle office.....so I guess
the cable is off in Chicago where they are uploading it????

All I can say is all these stalls and problems, I think the service has gone from a B+
to a C+ this past week. They should at least be honest and truthful on their facebook
page about what is going on and when Philly/Antenna will be added.

UPDATE:

I just visited the Facebook page for IVI and people are begging them to at least add Antenna
TV (forget about Philly). It is already on in the 4 cities they already carry. When Me-TV
made it's switch from one sub to the other........IVI quickly made the switch also.

As I long suspected, Me-Tv and Me-Too in Chicago are probably their top channels, that's why
a lot of their subscribers would like to see Antenna as well.

So far the response from IVI has been......."we're waiting on external events". Would it kill them
to make 50% or more of their subscribers happy by just adding one more channel? Did it kill
Burger King to add cheese to the Whopper because people were requesting it?

But, if they are days or weeks from possibly being shut down, why should they invest the money in additional equipment to carry these channels? I'm guessing they haven't seen a profit yet, and any profit they have seen has gone to court costs, so why would they go out and buy additional encoders, servers, and capacity if they are just going to be forced to cease broadcasting?

Adding channels isn't free for these guys....

SHOOT! And just when I was getting ready to watch Gilligan's Island.

Here's their statement........

A notice to all ivi TV subscribers and interested parties.
As you may be aware we have been in a fight to provide affordable Cable TV for the Internet.
Today the Southern District Court of New York granted a preliminary injunction in the case 1:10-cv-07415-NRB. We will be appealing the decision in the second circuit but in the interim we must shut-down most of our broadcast channel offerings.

We believe the court made an error in the ruling and will be appealing the decision supported by many public interest groups. But we cannot do it alone. In return, we ask that you support them. If you can, visit Public Knowledge and/or EFF to leave a donation.
In the interim we are suspending invoicing for ivi Air and ivi Pro, so it is not necessary to cancel subscriptions. As soon as we can restore the channels we will resume the subscriptions from that point forward.

We will continue to carry a number of channels and will be adding channels from broadcasters and content providers as we grow.
Thank you for your support,
The ivi TV team

Quite interesting how fast IVI can shut down channels.............but how slow they are at adding them in.

IVI didn't shut down those channels - the district court in New York did. What choice did IVI have? You do it or face jail time.

Nice, they were still charging subscriber's cards as of last night. Grrr.

I doubt the court knocked down the door and unplugged stuff. IVI probably UNPLUGGED their set-up on their own.

They probably would have ordered law enforcement to do exactly that, had IVI not done the unplugging themselves.

This will probably be the end of IVI. Now, Comcast can come out with almost the exact same
thing and charge $49.99 a month for it.

Why is this a surprise to anyone? They were taking programming that was paid for by other companies, retransmitting it, and making a profit off of it. This not only violates retransmission consent, but syndex as well.

If Comcast DOES come out with a service, they will have to negotiate a fair price to pay for such content, just like anyone else who legally does so.

And can you imagine the time that would take and what the outcome would have been. Nobody would have said yes.

IVI invented a new "toaster" or took the "toaster" where it had never gone before. I call that progress.

Cable TV had to put up the same fight when they first came out. Noooo you can't do that with our
signals, the stations said. IVI was not 100% or even 80% right, but I can't blame them for wanting to take out their new toaster and show it off.

NOW YOU SAY.....streaming is not a new toaster, it's been around awhile. Sure, but nobody has streamed 55 broadcast stations all at once before and from 4 cities.......that's where the progress comes in.
