Would be a nice New Year's gift. Format works with the proper execution.

It sounded to me as though CC tried a "Jack" a couple of years back while still calling themselves Mix.

For some reason CC loves the "Mix" name.

WXTB (If WFLA-Simulcast is not in the works) or Play 98.7 seem to be perfect contenders. While The Eagle blows its numbers are strong. No way will Cox tweak The Eagle into a more Adult Hits direction. Even though Adult Hits is a varient of the Classic Hits format. I mean even since Hot lauched no songs from the stations previous format have moved over. For the exception of a few tired out Bon Jovi and Van Halen tracks.

Good question, you hear it one this site all the time. "The Eagle" is a successful format due to the fact that people love all the music on their super-short 300 song playlist. Love the boring flavor of the same songs and repetitive liners. So the question is how did "The Eagle" survive and other Cox stations such as "The Point" didn't. Both 107.3 and 101.5 had different versions of the Classic Hits format. 107.3 leaning towards 70's and some 80's and 101.5 almost sounding like a HOT AC without the 2000's and Currents. So the question begs why does "The Eagle" hover in the Top 5 while "The Point" was #13 from 2009 all the way to July of last year when "Hot" was lauched. Not to mention the signal of WPOI beats WXGL in all key areas of the Tampa Metro.

Then again why does Mix 100.7 do so bad ratings wise. Isn't Hot AC a format that rates well in most markets.

Magic is now "the 80's,90's, and today" Guess Cox got some "point"

Guess I'll take a listen. Maybe Cox might take a hint as well and remove Deliah. Deliah is mainly an AC thing anyways. Few Hot AC's play the show.

They coulda dropped Delilah and kept Corey Dylan.

We have a "Jack" station.

In fact, we have the "Tedd" station and the "Corey" station, too! It's called "AM Tampa Bay".

Every weekday morning from 5-9 on 970WFLA.

Thanks for asking.

"Vader" posted the exact same thing in the Orlando folder.

Mods, please suspend this guy for a few weeks.
Vader seems to be asking to see what interest there is in different markets. I wouldn't be surprised to see a marketer use this forum as another pipe in their investigating pipeline.

Suspend me for what? Voicing a valid opinion in two similar lacking markets? Really man, get a clue and learn to play nice. I'm pretty sure I know a little about radio.

Don't hate buddy, everyone has a opinion, that's why we have these boards. Relax pal..........

The thing about WWRZ is that its a rimshot. Yes, you can hear Max 98.3 in Tampa and areas of Hillsborough County east. However can you hear Max 98.3 in Pinellas County. What about New Port Richey, Spring Hill, Oldsmar and all of Pinellas, Pasco, Herando and Extreme NW Hillsborough. "Mr. Winslow can't listen to Max 98.3 because he lives in Port Richey."

The Adult Hits format has worked well in most markets. If 101-5 The Point can last 10 years why can't Adult Hits survive on any frequency. If a 200-Song Jukebox playing 80's and 90's music lasted that long I believe that there is a market for Adult Hits. The Point was by far the most successful all-80's station in the country. While the format died out in other major cities it didn't die in Tampa.

If The Point could stay steady ratings wise whats stopping "Jack FM".

Max is really spotty here in Pinellas....I usually don't even bother trying unless I'm over the bridge into Tampa.

Yes, because the major programming directors for the Tampa and Orlando markets spend time on these boards and take the opinions posted on here at face value and allow themselves to be influenced by postings by a guy named "Vader" as to how they should program their stations....

Dude, go get a beverage and relax. I hardly think my light hearted comments can "influence" a PD/GM. You really are making more out this, it was just a format idea. Aren't these boards built for expression/opinions and thoughts and ideas? What harm has been done?
