Jacobs Media says HD awareness up, but major barriers to purchase remain

"barriers"...radios above the 150-200 dollar range. Only radios have cracked 100 dollars (new Radiosophy), with more to come. "Barrier" broken.

The new Radiosophy is regularly $120 - it is on-sale for $100 + a $40 rebate; this sale is over in July, so back up to $120.

This take is priceless. Last year Radios were $299 with a glimpse at $199 with the release of the Accurian at $199.

When the Accurian went on sale at $99 LAST THANKSGIVING, it was proclaimed "That's only availble for a limited time on sale". Radios are still $199.99.

Now they're $59.99 Inc rebate and the argument is that they are "Still $129.99 after the sale."

Isn't this a little like a car? (Seriously has ANYONE paid full retail for a car in the last decade?)

It appears something is ALWAYS on sale. I would propose that July might bring a different sale.

Or maybe all those manufacturers will just close down.

"Are you waiting in line for your HD radio?"

"If you lower the price enough, folks will buy the radio. That's the belief about HD radio that is being stoked in our industry. And, of course, it's wrong."

Putting a rebate, on top of a sale price, is a real act of desperation, in attempt to generate consumer interest.

A rebate on top of a sale price is a sign of desperation? Then nobody must be buying computers, cars, televisions, homes, lawnmowers, refrigerators, etc...all of which offer similar offers.

How could someone be "desperate" to sell a product that has never even been ASSEMBLED YET? It's a BRAND NEW PRODUCT, not even released. What Radiosophy has had trouble with in the past is meeting the demand for product! Do a search online for people who ordered their radios, but didin't get them for a long, LONG time.

Orders waited unfilled for more than a year for their first radio, before it finally began shipping. I'd consider any Radiosophy product vaporware UNTIL IT SHIPS. Desperation is claiming that a product which hasn't even shipped isn't selling. Can one be more silly?
