James Brown returns to CBS (and other sports TV shuffles)

I have to agree with The X that Bonnie Bernstein is a great sideline reporter.

In my opinion, her leaving CBS will greatly weaken their NFL coverage, especially of the "lead" regional telecasts.

NBC should (and I think will) hire her for sideline work on "Sunday Night Football". It would complete a "dream team" of commentators, analysts, hosts, and production/technical personnel the Peacock Network is putting together.

Now you mixed up the Gumbel brothers. It was GREG Gumbel - NOT Bryant Gumbel who worked The NFL Today (Bryant was doing the TODAY show on NBC by this time).

I can see one reason. It's called SC (as in SportsCenter). THAT SAID THOUGH, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they kept NFL LIVE in its place since NFL LIVE is more analytical than NFL PRIMETIME is.

Yes. Bradshaw teamed with Greg Gumbel after Musburger got fired in '90. That may have been the last time any network attempted a studio show with just two guys. Bradshaw might be somewhat more tolerable if they went back to that two-man setup(at least it wouldn't be so blasted annoying hearing four guys talking at once, with Bradshaw drowning them all out), but I doubt CBS would drop its other studio analysts.

But on SportsCenter they have to talk about other sports and they can't show extended highlights of all the games, just a play here, a play there on some. It just won't be the same. NFL Live is more analytical, they go in-depth about news around the NFL and offer their opinions. NFL Prime Time cuts right to the chase and gives you the highlights. Both shows serve their own purpose and both are good shows.
