James Leavelle, former Dallas PD cop that was hancuffed to Oswald has passed away.

James Leavelle, a former Dallas Police detective who was handcuffed to Lee Harvey Oswald as he was being transported from Dallas City Jail to the Dallas County Jail when Jack Ruby fatally shot him, has passed away.

While you may not know his name, but you know his face as he is the man in the white hat in the famous picture of Oswald's murder by Ruby on November 24, 1963. The murder was the first ever televised fatal shooting in US TV histoty as a camera was broadcasting the transfer of Oswald from the city jail to the county jail. Leavelle was 99 years old.

I am going to have to look at the picture as his name or his face is not jumping out at me

Please correct me if i am wrong, but is he the guy that is behind him? I know I can only speak for myself, I am amazed that anybody was still alive from that day as that was almost 56 years ago. While we do know who shot and killed the first 3 presidents, we will know never for sure who killed Kennedy as Jack Ruby was too big of a hurry to shoot him, without them finding out for sure if they had the right guy. But at best if you want to get away with killing somebody first you don't jill somebody in front of witnesses and you don't do it on live tv either. Jack Ruby died a few years later amazing the guy was almost 100 years old as well.
