Jax TV: WJXT adds chopper, ups ante in local news battle...sorta

I find it odd how WJXT has added "Sky4" chopper to their news gathering arsenal, yet hardly a mention of it on air or on line. I happened to catch a few 15 second spots for it this past Sunday morning.

With Action News Jax encroaching on their turf and their prolific use of their helicopter, I'd think 'JXT would be shouting about theirs from the mountain tops & have it in active use during all newscasts. Why bother investing in a chopper when you don't advertise it?

They did advertise Sky 4 today during breaking news coverage of a U.S. Marshal shooting a suspect in the Jax area.

I have WJXT on Channel 19 now via Cox Cable since I now live in Gainesville.

Stations in Atlanta seem to be using drones more and more. Don't think the choppers are ready for the mothballs. The choppers still have a place for fast arrival on news spots out in the burbs, but I see drones being used more within city limits. And why not? Def a cost saver.
