As a former AAA programmer, I can categorically state that The Sound is not playing that format, any more than KFWB is any longer an "all-news" station. I applaud Bonneville for taking the initial leap, but I must boo them for not sticking with it. OTOH, if I'd paid as much as they did for that stick, I'd want a better return too.

Report Card Time:
I believe with the latest change this month (going over 90% AOR gold) they have now converted to a classic rock station and nearly all pretense of the AAA format has been discarded. Therefore in my mind, May 2009 can possibly be the date to use to say they effectively changed format.
My prediction (and I believe Glenn's as well) when the format debuted was 18 months. I believe the Sound debuted in April 2008 (Super knows the exact date), thus 13 months may turn out to be the ultimate correct answer. It's somewhat messy though because they significantly changed the content of the playlist, but not the jocks and imaging. So they are still right on target to meet the full prediction. That is, they try watered-down classic rock (No AC/DC and Aerosmith here) for 6 more months and then bring back an 80's/90's classic upbeat hits format, and then that's the complete format change.
