Jeff McHugh becomes the OM of the River and B98.5, replacing Paul Ciliano

Paul Ciliano was let go under unknown circumstances a few weeks ago as OM of B98.5 and the River. He's being replaced by some guy named Jeff McHugh.

How will this affect Kate McCarthy.

Interesting side note, I got a lovely fruit basket from Kate while I was recovering from my appendectomy. I got jack squat from Jordan Graye. Similarly, I got a basket of Elvis DVD's from Rev Andy, formerly of Album 88. Andy at DAVE-FM won't return my phone calls.

Perfect choice. A guy who has never been on the radio (apparently), has never done anything worth noting in radio (apparently), and who will have little or nothing to do with programming B98.5 or the River because as we all know that's done by Bobby Neil. Well hell somebody's gotta count all them "best, listen while your Cox Radio stock dwindles to nothing, station".

The Beach Boy has had a moderate amount of success, I'm sure you realize. It stands to reason that he will continue to do so. He's knowledgeable of the industry, and he's far from stupid. I counsel watching and waiting... if he hired this guy it was for a reason.

Check his website out. This guys a smooth operator. The kind of guy you can expect to be walking around with one arm around Kate McCarthy and the other arm around Jordan Graye as they head out to his Mercedes.

Can anyone...ANYONE explain to me how a guy who has an article posted on his web site entitled "Why Top Down Management Sucks" was hired by Bob Neil and accepted the job?

After reading his resume, I'm wondering if this guy is too creative and controlling for the B98.5/The River job. As someone above alluded to, that position hasn't allowed its occupants much room in the past.

If you look at his resume, you'll see he programmed a station in Portland and hired the afternoon show that features former Fox 97 air talent Mitch Elliott partnered with a legendary TV & radio personality from that market. I've heard the show, and it's actually great.
