'Jeopardy' host Alex Trebek reveals he has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer

Very sad to hear. We're not sure how long he has left in his journey on Earth, but may he fight this with all of his powers. Great all-around gentleman and a legend in not just game shows, but television in general. I'm sure Johnny Gilbert is saddened as well, but our thoughts and prayers go off to Mr. Trebek!

Who would have ever believed he could make such a funny announcement about such a serious topic?

I saw a crawl during the show itself saying there would be a story at 11.

He said he HAD to beat this disease because his contract says he has to host the show for three more years. And I hope that happens.

It was a shock to hear, and an announcement delivered with remarkable dignity. I certainly hope he is one of those who beats the odds.

He appeared on the actual show one day to thank people for their concern.

But it was just the set and they switched to the broadcast already taped. I'm wondering when the first episodes taped since the announcement will air.

I saw Alex in the grocery store.

Actually, I didn't know whether to ask the man if he knew who he looked like, or to just assume he had heard it before. He did have a mustache.

Still nothing about his situation on the new episodes.

Here's a scary thought. What if there's a news story where he has to quit or we get the worst news, and the decision has to be made … do they tell us whether James Holzhauer is still winning?

A bridge to cross when we get to it. And the source must be reliable, not some gossipy celebrity dirt source like the one some weeks back saying Jeopardy was actively searching for a new host. Related: Alex took home his sixth daytime Emmy for best game show host last night.

Of course any source would have to be reliable. It's just scary to think Alex might not make it to the end of Holzhauer's series of episodes.

What? The shows would almost certainly air. If the time comes that such a thing becomes reality, the then-current champion would presumably pick back up when taping resumes. Barring some reason that player couldn’t return. It’s really not different than the champ at the end of a season having a couple of months, more or less, away before a new season tapes.

That has nothing to do with it.

I don't know why but I couldn't hear the first part of what a radio DJ said. All I heard was that someone was in remission, and that it seemed like a miracle. "Remission" is a term they use with cancer.

According to news articles Alex is saying he is in "near remission." From what I can see he is saying he's doing better and trying to keep a positive attitude. I was in cancer treatment myself last year and have been told that I'm cancer free now, but the doctors are still keeping a watch, and I'd imagine it's the same with Alex.

One thing is certain: he has a positive attitude anytime he introduces James Holzhauer or invites us back for the next show after the man has won AGAIN.

Wow Ill try to pray for you what kind of cancer were you diagnosed with?

Glad to see that Alex is beating the odds and is kicking cancers butt.

Cancer is something people need to watch out for sure were all aware of some of its latest victims peter fonda and david koch just goes to show cancer does not discriminate about as polar opposites of people you could pick.

I just saw the movie "S.W.A.T." and when they caught the bad guy, they pushed his face down onto Alex's Hollywood Walk of Fame star. I assume he had to give permission.
