Jerry Blavat Celebrates 50 Years In Radio, TV

Congrats to "The Geator". I was a student at the Blavat School of Broadcasting in 1969. They got me a job in Delaware, then up to Wilkes-Barre and to Las Vegas where I've been working in radio since 1975. Sid Marks was one of the instructors.

Supposedly, there's a location on Market Street in Philadelphia called "Geator Gold Radio." Is it a studio or a store or something?

Your right, it's on 7th & Market st. There is a phone set up where he isn't in the WVLT studio but is patched in through the phone line and does his show. You can see him through the window doing his show.

Gotta hand it to him. How many people in this business can actually say that they wrote their own ticket, playing what they want to play without being under the thumb of some corporate dictator.

It's at 626 B Market Street. He uses an ISDN line. He was the fairest guy I ever worked for, and always understood "family first...business will catch up".
