Jerry "The King" Lawler suffers real Heart Attack during Monday Night live RAW

Re: Jerry "The King" Lawler suffers real Heart Attack during Monday Night live RAW

Wrestling and Lawler are so far in my past I normally wouldn't care... but damn, Jerry Lawler, he was definitely one of the best wrestlers back in the day. What a story to start off 9/11 with.

Get well King.

Re: Jerry "The King" Lawler suffers real Heart Attack during Monday Night live RAW

They were live from Montreal. It was supposed to be Pat Patterson Appreciation Night locally off-camera. Obviously, that was scrapped when this happened. What makes this even more surreal is that Jerry wrestled on the show earlier on. They went live at 8 PM EDT and this happened around 9:58 PM EDT. WMC-TV (NBC) channel 5 of Memphis, the place where much of his in-studio wrestling took place each weekend said that Lawler, 62, will need heart surgery. Keep in mind that, unlike Ric Flair, Jerry wasn't wrestling a spot match or two since he needed the money. He was doing so for the love of wrestling. Period. It will be interesting to hear comments from his son, Brian (Christopher) Lawler, who wrestled before in WWE as half of the Two Cool tag team. :'(

On a side note, Lawler was scheduled to appear as part of a Northeast Wrestling show at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY (home of the Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn League) on the 22nd. Still scheduled to appear: Hulk Hogan, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Matt Hardy, former New York Yankee Joe Ausanio, Amy Dumas (a.k.a. Lita), Vader, Mickie James, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Goldust, Velvet Sky, New Champion Brian Anthony, Romeo Roselli, Bill Carr and more.

I wish you had not used the numbers commonly used when referring to the tragedies that occurred on today's date in 2001. Every day is a new day and tragedy occurs on every date of the calendar. Today's date is no different from any other.

Settle down Mario. Today is our Pearl Harbor Day. Accept it.

I can't believe Jerry still wrestles. He should have known better.

Re: Jerry "The King" Lawler suffers real Heart Attack during Monday Night live RAW

Read what I said above. I'm pretty certain that his match earlier in the evening was NOT the cause of his heart attack. Again, he was still wrestling on occasion because he wanted to, not because he had to.

The King had wrestled this weekend in Aruba then flew to Montreal on Monday

If Pearl Harbor Day isn't ours, then who's is it? ???

I wonder if Lawler ever really recovered from "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert running him over with his car back in Memphis?

Having this attack at the stadium could have saved his life! If he had been home alone, he probably wouldn't have received the medical attention he needed.

Lawler and Mid-South wrestling (including Lance Russell and Dave Brown) are part of my childhood too! By the way, how is Roddy Piper? Hasn't he had some health issues too?

Austin Idol and Lord Humongous are both alive and well. That's about the extent of my knowledge these days.
