He was one of the greatest running backs ever to play the game, as well as an actor and civil rights activist after his retirement from football. He died Thursday night at his home in LA. No cause of death given.

The Brownies were my favorite football team during my youth and my two favorite players were Jim Brown and Tommy MacDonald. :(
 
Brown is the only running back to average 100 yards per game for his entire career. He was an icon and more importantly committed to social causes. He helped blaze the trail for many athletes who have followed. RIP...
