Jimmy Barron does mornings week of 7/7 on 92.9 Dave FM

Been listening to the show this morning and it sounds really good. Jimmy has shared the mic more with Yvonne who really is funny. Looking forward to the rest of the week.

I'd like to add that for once in a long time I feel as though I'm listening to a show that is directed at me ( a 46 year old male). I also like hearing Calandro again. It would be nice to hear these three together on a regular basis.

For those here who do not believe this is not a tryout do not fool yourself. Dave played a total of 14 songs during Jimmy's show today and 16 yesterday. Last Tuesday Zakk played 23 and on Wednesday 20 songs. Does the fill-in guy often get more mic time?

Depends on the fill-in guy. Back in the day, John “Records” Landecker filled in for Jonathan Brandmeier on WLUP-FM (former employers of Zakk, Jane and Jimmy). Landecker talked as much if not more than Johnny. Landecker, like Jimmy, is a local legend (Yes Jimmy, I am calling you a legend, the first ever from Niles West). So I would say that it is not uncommon. With that said, Brandmeier had the #3 rated morning show in Chicago and was #1 18-34 male & females. He was secure. Zakk isn’t even #3 in his own building. Zakk is on shaky ground. He’s not delivering ratings, he hasn’t been in the community and his show has less creativity than a Micah Baron poop.

I feel for Zakk... the guy was never a good fit at Dave but you can't blame him for taking the gig. Then they wait forever to put him on the air, only to get duped by Cumulus announcing the return of the Regular Guys.
Dave should cut ties, hire Jimmy and Yvonne and get on point with their demo.

And Neil.... since when did a good show depend on how much you were in the "Community?"
A good show is a good show. I don't give a damn how much you're in the community if you entertain me on my way to work.

Thought about it further. perhaps sully has more to worry about than Zakk. They have money tied up in Zakk. Maybe one of the pairs goes to afternoons if it works out and has a Cindy and ray like show.
Gonna disagree with you there Tibbsie.

DAVE does have money tied up in Zakk but it is morning money, not afternoon money. Rich Sullivan is not a high-priced talent. In addition, he is out in the community and brings in revenue. He brought in the Loafing Leprechaun and Appleby's for DAVE last year. What has Zakk brought in so far, other than the highly lucrative BEEP account.

I don't think Infinity is gonna want to add Jimmy's salary, probably over $100,000 to Zakk's and Mara's. While letting a revenue generator go or moving him to nights.

I hear the Loafing Leprechaun participating in Southside Steve Steals on Rock 100.5 this week great timing. Did they leave Dave or just expanding the audience. Plus I remember the Loafing LEprechaun doing promotions with Barnsie and Furfur so how hard was it for Sully to bring them in. Either way I think the Zakkster might be written off real soon. They are giving Jimmy too much lattitude too talk as just some happy fill-in if not hear maybe elsewhere but he has far more equity here. Plus I actually lke Jane maybe she gets the gig and not Yvonne. Perhaps Zakk will take another week off next week and Jimmy will sit-in with Jane. Jimmy and Jane for your ride to work. I kind of like the sounds of that.

As for Zakk being in the community; Rick Caffey, the GM of Dave, a handsome man and my future boss, said that Zakk would be out and about as much as he was locked in the studio. Except for rare appearances, he is like the cousin you are ashamed of during family reunions. Everyone (advertisers) wants to hang with cool cousin Mara but no one wants creepy Zakk driving away business.

When starting a new morning show, I think it is good to get the public on your side. Meet and greet, get them to like you and they will listen (See Dunwoody Steve). Maybe Zakk will be a presence at Falcons games for the tens of 100’s of fans sure to make the Georgia Dome seem as empty as my last relationship.

Jimmy and Jane would be good. Both are Chicagoans too. Don’t know if that will fly with our deep Southern roots that we Atlantans have. I think Yvonne will be doing PT/fill-in every so often.

Here is something to ponder… remember how Zakk fought so hard to get Jane on the show? Imagine how bad the show would be without her.

Haven’t talked to Rich in a while but he literally lived at the Leprechaun all Fall and Winter. He brought in business for DAVE and LL.

It's great to hear Jimmy again and he is a good match for Dave.
Now if they would just lean a little more alternative musicwise, it could pull better ratings.
