Joanie from Happy Days Broke, Living in Trailer Park

What makes everyone think that "stars" from 70s TV shows had enough money to "set them up" for life (unless invested very wisely)? It's not like she was paid the millions that actors are paid today- sure, SOME money- but anyone who's had a few bucks before knows how fast it can go especially when one thinks it's an endless supply. And "aged terribly"? She's 51! She doesn't have the funds for all that plastic surgery, she pretty much looks like any other 51 year old beer drinking woman who's had a few kids, she probably smokes too. I personally don't think she's aged terribly! I DID read that on some UK news site, however- I guess they think that all actors, past and present have to look Barbie Doll perfect. Basically Erin looks like any female over 50 I'd see in a bowling alley somewhere.

About Anissa from Family Affair, I read something somewhere that may raise questions as to whether she voluntarily ingested/consumed whatever the heroin she passed away from- something about child abuse/Hollywood pedophilia. But of course that was just a "rumor"...

Braves2005, you mentioned the plights of Adam Rich, Susan Richardson, and Lani O'Grady, all from Eight is Enough. That's 3 young stars from one show who met bad times. Is that a record for ill-fated young stars from one series? :-[

I can't speak for other posters, but I wasn't suggesting that Erin Moran was "set up for life" - only that she had the talent and opportunity to earn the kind of good money that most Americans will never see, including residuals once Happy Days stopped production. Other actors in that show forged long lasting careers in show-biz- most notably Ron Howard, but also Henry Winkler, Donnie Most, and Anson Williams. That Erin didn't manage to do the same is no knock on her - but I don't see any evidence that she was manipulated and taken advantage of, like many of the 50s-60s child TV stars were.
