Jody Dean's morning show to be telecast over Ch 21 daily

From Ed Bark's www.unclebarky.com. Guess this isn't completely off the wall...Ch 39 and Ch 5 used to simulcast parts of Ron Chapman's morning show at K-Ville in the 1970s. I'm more in shock that Ch 21 dropped "The Daily Buzz," which must have been cutting into Ch 11's morning show's ratings or something. More people have told me they watched Buzz instead of any of the local offerings. Anywaysss...the quote:

"KLUV-FM's (98.7) Jody Dean and the Morning Team will be seen and heard on D-FW's TXA21, starting Monday, Oct. 25th.

Dean, who formerly anchored at CBS11, also does weekday pop-ins on that station's early morning program. TXA21 will simulcast his KLUV radio show from 7 to 9 a.m. weekdays in place of the nationally syndicated The Daily Buzz, which recently was dropped.

"The show is clever, funny, and sometimes irreverent -- but it's always entertaining," CBS11/TXA21 president and general manager Gary Schneider said in a publicity release.

KLUV is owned by CBS, which also owns CBS11 and TXA21."

What will we be looking at while the tunes are playing?

This strikes me as the opposite of synergy. This is like "subtraction by addition."

People at home listening to KLUV can turn off 98.7 and go to KTXA 21, no?

People at home watching KTVT 11 can turn it off and watch/listen to Jody et al on KTXA 21, too?

Among the two tv stations and the radio station, where will the increase come from?

My .02, yours may vary.

I'm with you there, Mike. I was so disappointed to see "The Buzz" go away. Now I have no where to get my Kia Malone fix! I'll have to settle for Cynthia Izaguirre -- Much nicer viewing than Jody. (Sorry Jody, I just call em like I see em. She's cuter than you!)

I learned a long time ago, anytime a Television station wishes to put you and your station on camera, you do whatever they want and get on TV. You can't buy that kind of advertisement.

Well, there's also something to be said about 'leave them wanting more'.

Leave "who" wanting more "what" ???

Well, it's simple: Leaving "them" (your listeners/viewers) wanting "more" (of you, content). You should be familiar with this concept; it's along the lines of "less is more". There is a such thing as over-saturation.

As I do like Jody on the radio, watching him on TV as well will far exceed my "holier than thou, big ego host" allotment for the day. Besides, I liked Daily Buzz too.

I like Jody, too, and have said so, in several posts. The part of the simulcast I think would cause me to tune out [or stop watching on KTXA]: that point on the KLUV morning show where you have extended laughter from the entire crew over a punchline...that...actually...wasn't...that...funny.

Hey, somebody is listening, and they are pulling good numbers.

It's probably just me.

I kept forgetting to watch. I went to the guide today to try a series record and it's not in the listings. Did it ever happen?

Not until Oct. 25th

Watching it right now. First thing that sticks out is the ill-thought logo...or maybe it is indeed the "Jody & Dean" show. Maybe Dean's filling in at the Jagger Show instead?

Haven't seen Jonathan Hayes in person in nearly 10 years...so when they were in a tiny split-screen with a 'what's on Letterman' graphic, I thought it was Chapman. Sorry, Judge!

Jody, love ya, and not trying to be an a$$ by saying this, but hit the 'soul patch' with some Just for Men! Truth be told, on camera it looks like a shaving boo-boo that was covered up with TP. Just sayin'.

OK, so where Kathy and Jonathan sit, is that the old office that was just off to the left of the entrance to the control room? Or Liz Balon's old office?

One thing I found interesting when they put Chapman's show on KXAS (and later KXTX) in the 70s is that they showed some of the technical aspects that went into making the show run. The countdown timer (for backtiming songs,) the equipment, etc...maybe that was just the kid-into-radio in me then, but I found that intriguing.

The Bugger Police Are Watching !!!!!

Just one more small reason to keep tv cameras out of radio studios... and I think you meant Booger Police. If you think it's bugger, you better check your Funk & Wagnalls (British version)!
