Things are starting to get interesting

Soon...this Little Vacation I'm on is getting Old QUICK!
Joe

Today was a Good day!
I'm now the New Image voice of CLEAR CHANNELS
KISS 94.5 Bangor
I'm excited about that and I have a good shot
at being the Image voice for WCAP Lowell MA
Hope to hear about that Soon
Plus I still do WATD Marshfield MA
and GEM 98 in Upstate NY
I kinda realize maybe my On Air Days are Over cause I'm Not moving from Bucksport Me
and I should Concentrate on Voice work
for Demos

Congrats, Joe! That KISS gig for C.C. can lead to even more work!

Voiceover can be more lucrative than on-air anyway...

You don't know me, I'm in the Boston area, and listened to you on WATD, WODS, WROR...

Goes to show you can't keep a great voice off the air!

By the way, I love that area of Maine, too. My mom used to rent a little summer cottage out on Cranberry Island. We used to drive through Bucksport and Ellsworth to Southwest Harbor to get the ferry. I watched the sun rise from Cadillac Mountain one time. Beautiful area up there.

ED
THANK YOU!
ON air is All I've Ever Done
But I was offered $ 8 Dollars per hour part time for on air work in Bangor
Its Kinda scarey!
If I land WCOP Lowell also for Image work
That would be great!
Joe Mc Millan

Gosh, Joe...

I can remember WCAP (in Lowell) when the Cohen Brothers owned it! I worked there twice during the 70s.
Obviously, with you on board (voicewise)---the station has hired some terrific talent! ;)

this thread isn't helping. can we move/kill this?

There's nothing wrong with a place on a RADIO board for a locally known broadcast/voiceover personality to talk about what's happening in his career, seek encouragement when he was down, and to seek more work. No one is forcing you to read the thread if you don't want to.

I'm sure there IS a place for it . But this board is about new england radio, yes? Not about drive in theaters, ebay auctions, movie posters, missing state aid checks ...

All in all, the light it is shedding is less than favorable.

Good luck to those in search of work. Playing it out here on this board my do more to HURT than it does to HELP your chances.

I completely agree with Eli Polansky. ;)

There are many of us (including Joe and myself) who have spent the past several months looking for broadcast work. It's not our fault if the opportunity isn't there!
Or at least currently available.

With all due respect to hurricanesgb, some of us don't have the luxury of relocating to another state or part of the country due to budget limitations. So perhaps you could cut us a little slack when it comes to bringing up what's appropriate for a thread?

Having worked with Joe in the past and mutually respecting each other's talents, this is the least ANYBODY CONNECTED WITH BROADCASTING CAN DO! :-[

Please
Everybody have a nice weekend
and Thanks for the kind words
I do appreciate it

I've got to go along with Eli and Argy on this, too. Yes, admittedly, I was a bit off-topic, but my intent was to hopefully give Joe a much-needed chuckle. Having worked in the Bangor Market for about 20 years now, and having found myself out of work a time or two in this market, I know how tough the going is for someone in Joe's situation, just as I understand his motivation for choosing to tough it out to stay here. I did, and as a result I find myself in a position I enjoy very much, although I had to work hard to get there. I'm glad Joe has found some good work and hope it works out for the best for him.

Oh, and unemployment insurance is not "State Aid".

forevernight...

What most of us don't realize about unemployment is that IT'S DECLARED AS INCOME AT THE END OF THE YEAR! So that means we'll pay taxes on it!

And if you work as an independent contractor like I do....the taxes are higher!

argytunes

Yes, that came as a nasty little surprise the last time I was out of work for any length of time, Argy. I think you can now have taxes withheld so it doesn't get quite as ugly at tax time. But yes, it is taxable income.

I'm Happy to say I'm now working for "CLEAR CHANNEL"
in Bangor! Right Now The IMAGE voice of KISS 94.5
as they say..I've got my foot in the door
They have a Super facility!
The Best in the area!!
Really Nice people!
My liners should start in the next few weeks
Still getting Married on Saturday!...Terri is from Ellsworth
Full Time in Bangor on air is what I'm hoping
for But I know it might take some time
Thank You to Everyone for their Kindness in
what has been a VERY hard time
Joe Mc Millan

And here's hoping that the rest of us who have been looking for radio and tv work will find it somewhere? ???

Since going green seems to be the "color of NBC's programming" this week...is it out of place to make the wish for a little extra green in our broadcast paychecks before the holidays arrive? ::)

argytunes---who, unlike Joe, is still searching for a new broadcast opportunity!

Hey Joe -

congrats on the gig - any gig is a good gig in this day and age.

and Congrats on the nuptuals! Here's hoping for a great, long run for you & Terri (i hope i spelled it correctly)

Mazeltov! Cheers! Huzzah! and the downeast fav: 'bout damn time!
