John DePetro and Jay Severin: Registered To Vote Where There Mouths Are ?

C

Casablanca

Guest
At last look, John DePetro is still a resident of Rhode Island and therefore cannot not vote in Massachusetts.

Odd, he puts his mouth behind the microphone but is impotent to do anything about it.

Same goes for Jay Severin? Or has he really changed his Sag Harbor voting precinct to Prides Poloponies?

Re: John DePetro and Jay Severin: Registered To Vote Where Their Mouths Are ?

That is quite telling. They are rambling on about Deval Patrick but they probably are not registered up here.
Has DePetro moved to Boston? Think of all the carbon monoxide RKO is adding to the atmosphere by paying some loon from Rhode Island to allegedly commute up here! DePetro is not very good-looking so if he stays in a hotel maybe he has some paid company to keep him occupied. Who would marry John DePetro? And who is an angry, ugly man exported from out of state to come up here and try to influence a vote regarding who will Govern this state? Look at where DePetro comes from and their Government! He probably helped wreck Rhode Island so he comes up here in an attempt to do the same.

>>He probably helped wreck Rhode Island

Yeah it's much better that Buddy Cianci and Plunder Dome didn't go through scrutiny.

>>DePetro is not very good-looking

So I guess Scondras would not be attracted to him...as it is Howie's playing a tape in which Mr.
"I'll Meet You At 1:15 am, My 15 Year Old Studmuffin" says he's not attracted to Howie (taken
from when DS filled in for HC)

I would think DePetro lives here and possible his voting status is reg. in Massachusetts. Bit of a commute
from Cranston...
Think of all the carbon monoxide that won't be put in the air when the feed-the-hacks tollbooths come down! No more idling when you get to the Natick tolls!

more on DePetro, 2002 article from NY Times:
>>"Rhode Islanders love gossip. They love scandal," DePetro said. "The state is so small that if you have someone on, there is a chance the listeners know the person . . . that he lives next door to my cousin Vinny in Pawtucket."...Still, DePetro said he has standards similar to journalists -- he checks out stories. But he acknowledges that callers are free to float rumors or invective.

Funnier yet is that Cabulance and Valvoline aren't heard on radio, and continually evince their "microphone envy" upon these pages by bashing those who do.

Do they sit in a circle chanting " 'RKO sucks, 'RKO sucks" whilst thinking of inanities to inflict upon us?

EYE would like to know!

Boycott those posters that annoy you - it's your right!

Well, sometimes they annoy me but more often then not I find I can go after something they've said
and offer a kind of rebuttal. And maybe bring some humor into it.

"All of 2 Posts" oomboppamaumau doesn't allow for people to be radio listeners, and as listeners we have the right to criticize. Like Harvey Wharfield, who chooses not to be on radio, or I who am happier to be on the
BBC or VH1 and reach a slightly larger audience than DePetro, or Bob Nelson who has provided reason why he SHOULD not be on television

radio listeners / fans have a right to criticize the blockheads that appear on our public airwaves.

it is tres obvious their skin is very thin!

We often-lurkers, seldom-posters appreciate your posts. If nothing else, the Boston board is never boring!

End of tolls west of Rt. 128 a political stunt? Vote Muffy - tear down the tolls!

no, we don't sit around in circles chanting anti-wrko mantras; too busy cleaning up cable television - one TV station in a community last night holding their "witches coven" and failing to abide by their own policies and procedures! as well as their contract with the City. That's where most of my time is invested. Making sport of RKO and BCN (to quote Howie Carr) is just what we do for fun.

Non-stop rants grow tiresome. Racism charges ring hollow. "Faces for radio" - whats that? Howies topic for the 3rd hour?? Puhleeze.

Up to 3 posts! :)

I believe DePetro still lives in Rho Diland. His looks nor Severin's have anything to do with it from this poster's point of view. Al Franken is no Brad Pitt either on the Democratic side... ;)

Cable TV cop? Wow!

A world of issues to be addressed, and you waste your time on the box.

Aim higher!

it's bad enough people have to hear their annoying voices (Depetro, Severin, Carr and, yes, Franken too), but even worse that - to quote planet of the apes - they're so damn ugly - the whole lot of 'em.

Some of us want to give back to the community; Public Access TV is a soap box that allows for independent thought without a CBS/ENTERCOM/ corporate entity ruining the beauty that is FREE SPEECH.

Whoa, boy! A Franken-bash!? Now I can agree with that!

"I understand/just a little/no comprendo/it's a riddle"

Carr's voice isn't annoying. The rest of their voices, I may agree with but the content of Cranston Johnny D's show makes it listenable for me. Severin--lose the flat top.

>>have a right to criticize

true, and for those who don't know, the "perfect face for radio" whose pic I posted is...me :) I'm in
my 26th year of radio at that station; I do their website and post podcasts, pay for bandwith, etc.
We may not be able to afford to pay a Chris Lydon like some other State college/State U. stations, but... :)

In case you haven't noticed, as talk-show hosts they have the same right, and it's not conditioned on where or whether they vote.

if DePetro's sin is not voting in the Commonwealth of Mass., then I guess he has something in common
with Deval (of course, Deval had the RIGHT to vote in this state and just didn't exercise it a few times...) :)

Scotto blog (DP skipped 11/96 election--the Kerry v. Weld race as well as Clinton v. Dole:

>>And of course, if Deval Patrick didn't vote in November 1996, he didn't vote for the man who appointed him to serve US Department of Justice two years earlier, President Bill Clinton.

Y'know, I like to vote, even if I'm going out for one issue and while voting I see there are 3 names that I want to vote for and they are unopposed, I still vote for them to show my support.

When talking to a regional Senator (that I support) about cable issues it was nice to say "I voted for you".
It's obvious which issues this voter supports. Gay Marriage was NEVER on my radar screen - I think marriage itself is an institution from a by-gone era (less couples in the U.S. are married, more unmarried, are they not?) - but take away a right just to discriminate - well, you know where my vote is cast in that case.

All that being said - I have no problem with Deval Patrick not voting. I have more of a problem with John DePetro trying to influence a vote (ok ok, the suits at Entercom putting words in his mouth), sure he's a paid hack and he would do the same thing in New Hampshire or in Venezuela if they paid him. "Independent Man" is very co-dependent- he will independently mouth off on your point of view if you pay him!

John DePetro- Co-Dependent man!

Yeah, talk show hosts love to give their point of view and silence the audience. Why do you think this radio-board ruffles their feathers so much?

>>trying influence a vote

yeah, they don't do that kind of thing on Air America..."You know, we support Democrat and liberal
causes, but we don't want you to listen to what we say. Go ahead, vote Republican if you wish..."
Yeah, they're not trying to influence an election. When Air America went on air in Boston on 10/4/04,
surely it was a co-incidence...they could have waited till after the election to debut on 1200/1430.
October Surprise ! :) (insert remark about the knocking-down-the-tolls effort here)

With Air America you get exactly what you get. There is no pretense of being "fair and balanced", although with the phone calls - and Jones' radio network's Ed Schultz - the left wingers do allow for discussion - and that leads to far more balanced programming than, say, "Hannity & Colmes". Poor Alan Colmes, he looks like a dweeb while Hannity looks like a slick shark. So intentional a ploy.

WRKO yaps about being "THE TALK STATION" with the implication being it allows for conversation.
They don't tell the truth, which is: they talk AT you, not with you.
