glad to see the return of FreeForm radio and how the consolidation of radio back in 1997 didn't mean much. :)
______________

I love it when people throw around terms like "free form", "consolodation", and "corporate radio". People always do this. 1997 wasn't the start of corporate playlists, or big companies owning stations. It started in the 50's. There's a reason why free form went away... same reason why other outdated products that have graced our lives have gone away. Disco went away and nobody cried "The corporate giants are killing the music of today!". Times change, tastes change. There is a reason why they're willing to put High Fidelity on the air... in the middle of the night on a Sunday! It's because no one cares about that time slot. There's no advertisers buying it, so you can do whatever you want with it. They just herald themselves and bringing back real radio or whatever they want. It's the same as playing an infomercial to me. Not in quality, but in mindset. Put it on when no one cares. Same mind set.

At least its creative programming and somewhat high profile. Local radio needs to be creative to compete with satellite and try and sway both the young and old to radio again.

BTW....disco didnt die. Its just hibernating....:)
______________
