John Ramsey to speak at NARL meeting Dec. 6

This is a great opportunity for all radio enthusiasts to hear a lecture by John Ramsey at next Monday's NARL meeting at Newington's Senior Center at 7 pm. Mr. Ramsey is the Chief Technical Officer of WCCC and is the General Manager of WWUH. He is also the Webmaster of www.Hartfordradiohistory.com . A slide show and airchecks are part of the presentation.

Maybe I'll ask if HD will ever come back to WCCC.

There was a great turnout at the Newington Senior Center to see John Ramsey's presentation. He is putting together a book about Hartford radio history in the "Images of America" style. I asked about HD on WCCC and he stated that HD systems use quite a bit of power and when they turned off the HD, they received only 6 complaints. Therefore, management felt the benefits did not justify the costs. They still have the equipment and may use it in the future. John provided some great airchecks covering Bob Steele on WTIC, Rusty Potz on WCCC, WWUH, WKNB, and WDRC. Many of the photos shown can be seen on the website www.hartfordradiohistory.com . It sounds like John has worked for just about every station in the market. Afterwards, there was some talk about how WTIC is becoming a Primary Entry Point (PEP) station in the event of a national emergency and that FEMA is providing a lot of new equipment such as generators and surge protectors to WTIC. One gentleman was recording the presentation with hopes of posting some of it on youtube. It was a wonderful night ... thank you John.
