'Jon & Kate' June 22 ep sets new series high, was most-watched show Monday

According to
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/ar...ost_Watched_in_Series_History.php?rssid=20068

Also, the couple filed papers this week to dissolve their marriage. I feel bad for those kids. No matter what kind of $$ there is income-wise/otherwise, NOTHING can replace the love, support, and *presence* of both parents in a kid's life. Being a child of divorce myself, it was really tough to watch the show last night.

You know how TLC could further capitalize on this situation? Give Jon & Kate their own shows - then air them on opposite networks, like air Kate's show on TLC and stick Jon's program on sister network Discovery at the same time...

For those of you wondering about whether or not TLC has ever been honoring the true meaning behind its network acronym, well... there's certainly a lot to be learned from a breakup!

One thing I found particularly interesting is: no mention was made as to whether or not that was the series finale. Unless they entered into some kind of terminating agreement with TLC, I would imagine that we now have divorce-related episodes to look forward to. Or, we may ultimately see the series continue with Kate + 8 and Jon only in the picture occasionally.

They said in the episode that the show will still be airing, almost like it was this season. Taping the interviews at different times, show Jon doing one thing with the kids and Kate doing another.

For anyone who dreams that reality TV will just wither up and die, this should pretty much lay that hope to rest.

Bread and circuses, America.

Well put, dhett; very well put!

A 7.7 household rating for this sort of trash is just...sad. The only good thing I can find in that number is that 92.3% of us weren't watching.

This is such garbage.....this is so contrived and most likely scripted......now it will be " Can this Marriage Be Saved !"

Their divorce is not final....in Pennsylvania they have to go through counseling before a final divorce.....this will be played out ..........

There has to be a better name for this type of programming than "Reality"..........

Maybe......... Faux Reality........Pretend Reality....Scripted Reality........

When Kate says the Program Must Go On......instead of my family must be protected....you know what is going on.........

Most American viewers are so gullible......it is so pathetic..........important things are hapening in the world and the news channels.......

( and we need a new name for the news channels because of no news)......keep on harping on J&K + 8......gag me now...........

Sadder still is the fact that people are dying in the streets of Iran, North Korea is threatening to nuke us, our nation is debating fundamental and revolutionary changes as to how our government deals with practically everything from banks to health care and all people seem to care about is what John had for lunch.

That the idiots who watch this show are rewarding these self-absorbed, shallow, horrible people with such attention, ratings and riches is just sickening.

I guess I'm one of the "idiots". I find it great how everyone is dumping on the show now. Before "Octomom" the show never focused on the outside stuff. But after that the tabloids got more and more interested in Jon & Kate. I'm going to keep watching because I like what the show use to be about, and hope it returns to a small piece of nice TV one day.

A lot of us didn't start "dumping" on it until the mainstream media started rubbing in our faces as if it were news. It's not. But the more I learn about this show and the people involved, the more reprehensible I find them to be. And, though you may enjoy it, I view it as a perfect example of what's wrong with television today - and why quality programming is harder and harder to find.

With all that's going on in the world, I don't see this thing as newsworthy to anyone aside from those who watch it. I mean, what the heck? Why not have the trials and tribulations of the crab boat captains from Deadliest Catch on ABC's World News too? At least they work hard and provide us with something useful (seafood). Quite unlike J + K. The fact is, none of this is news.

As for "Octomom" - I find her to be a walking abomination. She's a whack nut who has provided our society with 12 future felons to support. Sadly, the way that this Jon and Kate show is going, there are 8 more future attendees of therapy on the east coast too. What do they have in common? All are selfish pigs who put themselves and their notoriety before their childrens' best interests.

By watching, you're supporting them. So the joke is on you.

BRNout,
This won't make you happy, but I think Octomom has 14 kids, unless you think two will come out without prison time. ;)
I remember because when I heard that number, I thought of Pete Rose, who was #14. Don't ask me why that popped in, those two things just associated themselves in my head at that moment.

It IS on you. Kate's laughing all the way to the tanning salon while your IQ drops a little as you watch each episode.

Stop the madness!! :D

Can't stand the particular show and I agree the news coverage has been vile, but that aside, since when has there not been escapist entertainment in the midst of other serious world events? That's the argument that doesn't work. If I want to tune out from the world around me--and I do--for a period of time, it doesn't mean that I don't care about those things, it means I don't spend every waking second of my life so focused on them that I wind up paralyzed. It just means decompressing in whatever way I find entertaining. Some people find that to be Jon & Kate, so be it. I don't. They don't care for my choices of escapism, either, that's why there are countless choices available.

My IQ is dropping from watching a TV show? Riiiight.

What's even greater was that Monday's J&K+8 show also happened to beat the commercial-free "WWE Raw" in the ratings!

Jon & Kate Plus 8: 7.7
WWE Raw: 4.5

Of course WWE will find some way to spin it.
