Jonathan Coachman takes over afternoon slot at ESPN Radio

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/a...han-coachman-takes-afternoon-slot-at-espn-rad

So the show is called "Coach & Company" which will be hosted by Jonathan Coachman and a rotating cast of ESPN personalities. I also noticed that Scott Van Pelt's show has changed to SVP & Russillo, which was what they did when Mike Tirico was leaving ESPN Radio and allowing SVP to take over full-time. I'm thinking that Ryen Russillo is gradually being groomed to take over SVP's slot all by himself. I thought Freddie Coleman was going to join Coach but it seems they want to keep Coleman on SportsCenter Tonight.

They changed the name of the shpw when Russillo signed a new contract with them not that long ago. Since he is as much a part of the show as SVP, the move to rename the show made sense. I don't get the PM drive show on my local statio as they do local programming, but I think Coach is a good choice for that time slot. He is proof that there is life after WWE for announcers. He has not run from his past but credits it for helping him form an entertaining on-air personality.

i win...i win...

well, sort of...

from my post six weeks or so ago:

i agree with coach & coleman as the top pick. i actually find them tolerable together.

here's my top 5:

1. coach & coleman
2. salk & huard go national
3. taped tv shows from espn (cheap)
4. sportscenter pm (yawn)
5. adnan virk & adam jones

as long as coach doesn't have linda cohn or john kinkade as one of the regulars, it might work.

however, this is such a safe and boring pick that it really highlights the atrophy at the heart of ESPN these days. no surprise. no real buzz. solid but boring.

Listening on Thursday night/Friday morning, Freddie Coleman was not on SportsCenter Tonight, and they were saying "Coach & Coleman" were on after SVP & Russillo. So I guess Coleman has moved to afternoons. Looks like saraswati was right.
