Just Another Broadcast Day At Family Radio

This issue comes up with parents who want to blame musicians and song lyrics for their kids committing suicide. At the end of the day, people have to take responsibility for their own actions. This particular woman sounds even more nuts than Camping.

...it gets to the attitude of some religious broadcasters who feel they are intermediaries between the people and the Lord, and what they do is a devine calling, unaffected by laws of the temporal world. Similar to that commercial for Hebrew National hot dogs, who answer to a higher authority than the FDA...

Interesting paradox. Jesus Christ's example supports the notion that divine law trumps the laws of man, yet he submitted to Roman secular law, and was put to death as an innocent man. The Bible also makes clear that followers of Christ can expect to be persecuted, but religious scammers are also persecuted, and some people can't tell the difference.

Religious broadcasters are in an interesting position, because their broadcasts may reach or even target those without the background to tell the sincere from the scamers. The idea that Camping could claim his long-term study of the Bible brought him to the prediction probably seemed reasonable to those who've never read it themselves. Those who've read Matthew know the Bible itself makes plain that Camping could not know such a thing. They were probably not the ones selling their homes to buy billboards.

Camping says he's going to talk about the incorrect prediction on his show tonight.

I'm not expecting him to view it as "incorrect." The Lord works in mysterious ways. Or so I'm told.

The question of who was replacing Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men" was much more interesting......and real.

In October now. This guy reminds me of a saying and old car salesman friend of mine had. "You throw enough crap against the wall, some of it is bound to stick." So I guess in his case call enough dates and someday you might be right. Hello rubber room.

Mark 13:32 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Amen

Exactly...also spoken by Jesus in Matthew 24:36.

Camping was once a solid Christian teacher but that was back when Dan Ingram and Harry Harrison were still ruling the roost on WABC.

I don't want to think this is a deliberate hoax although I admit I'm not well-versed on FCC 73.1217 either. I'm more inclined to agree with cee and believe there's no real recourse here - at least not through the legal system - but if Camping loses his following and Family Radio goes away, I'd call that a good thing.
