That spot has aired for about a week now on WDRB, WMYO and WBKI. I don't like "The New 105.1 WLRS" I think a better move would be to focus on the stations heritage and that they're adding more classic rock. After all most the playlist, the old WLRS 102.3 played when the music was new. But, it's Mainline... they're like Bluechip and Radio One.. give it 3 years, and I'm sure we will see another "New 1051 WLRS"

They talk about how the signal is better in the commercial and how you can get wlrs all over louisville. Well i do not notice any difference and on my clock radio where i live. I don't pick it up any better but do pick up 93.1 and i live in crescent hill area.

The signal is NOT better over Louisville. They recently moved from their tower on Brooks Hill Road to a tower on Mitchell Hill. But to do that, they had to go directional. They now put a null over Louisville, the very city they want to serve. They had to do this to protect 105.3 in Scottsville. The only advantage to doing that was they did eliminate some shadowing that was caused by the ridge between the former tower and Louisville, but having to draw in the signal over Louisville kinda negates that advantage.

Over all it was not a very good move. They would have done better keeping the 104 signal in Charlestown and selling the 105 signal instead

"heritage" won't do squat for them today. Their "heritage" was over 20 years ago, they've been 5 or 6 different (and lousy) things since........ this concept is a big fat myth.

The heritage thing is a myth i talked to someone last summer and asked them about wlrs and they were 17 and they said "you mean the walrus" case and point WLRS has not used the walrus in years so it just confuses people to keep the call letters wlrs. It is just proof mainline does not really care about 105.1. They are just trying to salvage it at this point.

Radio one ruined wlrs when they flipped them to 105.1

For the love of god let sleeping dogs lie mainline!!!

As kentuckymedia said and so true wlrs is the redheaded stepchild of louisville radio no matter who owns them!!!

It would probably have been a better move for WAY-FM as well, since fellow Christian CHR Air1 serves primarily the northern and eastern edges of the market, and a lot of the churches involved in the local Christian music scene are on the South End. Additionally, they wouldn't need 93.9/95.3 WFBR to be a CHRSN affiliate.

Correction: They didn't flip LRS to 105.1, they blew up LRS 102 completely and it was GONE. Love 102. And there was no such thing as LRS for several months.

Does anyone remember the dates? I don't, but know it was dead a long time.

Technically you are right but the end result is the same greg. Summer of 1999 lrs died forever and love 102.3 was born and then in march of 2000 bluechip brought back the fake lrs at 105.1 and let it be alt for 2 years or so then radio one ruined it and and made it foxlite with some of the music. Now today how many formats has it been all together with the call letters wlrs??

Mainline should have changed the name. Really, thats the most important feature. If they wanted to keep it rock, they could have came up with something like: K-ROCK.

Mainline does invest, they spent a ton of money on research, and now they are spending money on television which gets really expensive. Something that CC wont do! LRS gets the television this book, I wouldnt be surprised to see XMA or DJX get a fall boost!

Kentuckymedia they didn't change it cause it is obvious mainline does not care about the station 105.1 wlrs or they would have rebranded it fired both freak show joe(whom has no business working in radio) and skinny j and just started from scratch but just proves what you have said the fake lrs 105.1 is the red headed stepchild of louisville radio that noone cares about.

The call letters WLRS just confuses people!!! And you said mainline knows what they are doing apparently not.

The all new k-rock where everything rocks.

K-rock is a well known brand and would work well it will still be a sinking ship until they do it right. Not a bad format i don't care for it but not bad but to bad they didn't do it right. All for nothing.

Their "heritage" was more than 20 years ago. WLRS tanked when WQMF came on the air. Ever since its been a new format every few years.

Mainline is an amazingly progressive company. Good Job on marketing radio again!

I agree. Everywhere I look...straight ahead they're on a Tarc bus, to the left they're on a Tarc stop, to the right there on the side of a Tarc bus!

I would hardly call it "progressive ads"

please -- they have a billboard on a few TARC bus and bus stops...

I'd hardly call that "marketing radio again"
