K-Love coming to WRQQ 97.1 Belle Meade 7/16/2012

I'm not familiar with the K-LOVE brand, but from what I'm reading..it's similar to FISH and WAY..so now there are three formats for that genre' in a market the size of Nashville..questions arise..was RQQ not billing what was expected ? have to admit they stuck with the format longer than most of us thought....For comparison purposes..Hippie has a better and wider mix...(not gonna comment on the talent angle...since most of it is out of town anyway)..but they suffer with a weak signal..RQQ has more power..but seemed to becoming a bit predictable...sure is hard to promote when you have when you have no one out on the streets to promote the stations...Hippie is at least doing some remotes..haven't heard anything remotely..lol..like that about RQQ..or maybe I missed it..I can only listen for maybe 45 minutes pre B&T..and maybe 30 around lunchtime..

I actually found myself listening to 97.1 more with this last format than I have since Star 97. With the exception of B & T. It still infuriates me to not see RQQ reach full Classic Hits potential with B & T killing virtually any office ratings.

I think Nashville can easily support all the country stations currently in town, but would Cumulus dare bring back KDF (and Carl P) with an extended Classic Hits/Rock format to take on Jack, Hippie and the Rock? Ha, I doubt it. I'd probably play it safe too.

We'll I have always said a flip during a Titans home game would be monumental. I always swore it would be cool to get Coach Jeff Fisher to announce the return of KDF. Obviously, a part of that cant happen now. I think, if anything, maybe the is a slight chance that Crums will look at even the response from WABB flipping in Mobile to see the opportunity. Rocks doing fine, Jacks in the middle. RQQ has a 3. Country is tied up in a 3 legged race. Add it all up, you could have a perfect storm. Win - Win. Chances of it happening? They once were slim to nothing...now...well...

I guess it's unlikely, but I wonder if Cumulus will do anything to salvage WRQQ/classic hits/Bob and Tom...

They can always continue the format on HD RADIO! :D

97.1 has been one of the biggest punching bags in Nashville radio for this site during the five years or so that I have been reading and posting here...

The same could be said for 101.9 in New York... who knew that under Merlin ownership, the fun would just get started? :p

Nashville has had three Christian music stations at one time in our recent past. About 10 years or so ago, we had WAY-FM, WNAZ, and "the One." I am not going to make any judgements as to whether Nashville can support three Christian music stations at the same time (again); I am only going to say that I seriously doubt whether Clear Channel was ever truly committed to "the One" because as I recall, they didn't keep that format for very long.

SnS. PLEASE get over the idea of moving 94.5's signal much further toward Cookeville. Jerome Zimmer would have to mess with his signal and Tony Richards would have to pay to get the signal changes made and even then, it wouldn't be such a great improvement in Lebanon. Since the signal is obviously pretty weak out your way, just let the good folks on the West Side have something to listen to that isn't rap, rapCHR or country. There are now almost a dozen signals with some form of religious programming on in this market already, leave us old peoples one dang radio station.

Now if only EMF would buy 94.5, make a tiny boost of power (or move the COL) into Lebanon, and have it be an Air 1 affiliate...

If not, it's still a win for the market...nearest K-Love/Air 1 stations would have been in Knoxville, Memphis, and Louisville.

No, I wish Salem would buy 94.5 and put Solid Gospel on it. I'm gonna miss Solid Gospel 105 on 104.9.

K-love has the site listed already in their station list for Nashville. I think putting the station on the list so quickly is now bragging rights. Anywhere else means it may be a month or so until K-Love gets the station on the list.

Air 1 was airing this morning, then suddenly a mid-song transition and it was back to K-Love. Don't know if this intentional or the Cume employee picked up the wrong signal.

Heard the same thing...maybe Air 1 is coming too...eventually...

I won't be surprised if Air 1 eventually comes to Nashville. If K-LOVE is going to be in Nashville, whether it's just to have an industry presence, or to eventually do broadcasts from there, it makes sense for Air 1 to be there as well. I won't be surprised for them to eventually do broadcasts for both networks from Nashville, whether it's just on a part time basis, or to eventually move the morning shows there.

Likely an error on the iPump Recv for EMF.. Channel likely got accidentally changed.

Driving back from Fort Myers, My old Way-Fm Town (Nashville), was 97.1 AIR-1 and not K-Love.. They are wedging to the left of of Way and Fish...

Is Nashville running a unique version of K-Love? I ask this because 97.1 is not matching up with Knoxville's K-Love. I can pick up both signals when the conditions are right.

Cumulus just LMA'd one of its Houston stations to Air1. It started at 5 PM today. So it could be the same in Nashville.

Listen to the imaging.. It will either be KLove or Air1... Those are the only two formats EMF has currently... If they say KLove and it's different music then EMF's up to something i've not seen them do elsewhere.. If they say Air1.. then well either the iPump is tuned to the wrong channel or they are tossing around the idea to do Air1 in the market instead of KLove.

[It would be kinda funny if the switch to KLOVE was just a breif thing and it caused Salem to blow up Solid Gospel for another Fish signal and then EMF decides to actually land on Air1 in the market] -- which I think would go after WAYFM more than Fish as Fish is very AC based.. WayFM leans Hot AC and shares more of a playlist with Air1 than KLove. [though they (way) have leaned more AC over the recent years than CHR/Rock -- but in general most stations programming Christian CHR have a lot in Common with AC -- but that's for another topic] :)
