KABC-AM Cuts Most Of Local Lineup/ Sacramento's Armstrong and Getty to Join in 2020

I don't use Facebook but I bet that FB on your phone was providing a lot more info.

What happens when the power outage also shuts down the cell phone distribution antenna near your home? That happened to me a couple years ago. The storm was so intense, it also shut down cell service. We had another situation where an underground switching center for the phone company was flooded and shorted out. No cell service for days.

Are we legally obligated to be outraged?

Its more like who cares at this point given that KABC-AM is Cumulus last station in the Southland though. Also does the current money demos even care about KABC-AM. Even if KABC-AM had a simulcast on FM I don't know if that even matters at this point though.

If a talented talk show host were to start today then most likely that person would do their show on Youtube, Podcasts, Twitch, Vimeo and Dailymotion though, Not on traditional AM/FM radio though.

Must b with john phillips for john is 12 to 3 but if there keeping randy thats great he is very funny. He belongs to work at a real radio station. A station that appreciates his talents.

Here is an update for KABC-AM in 2020

As its new de-localized lineup takes effect today, Cumulus Media Conservative Talk 790 KABC Los Angeles is adding a pair of podcasts from Cumulus’ Westwood One Podcast Network to the station’s daily lineup.

Author and former Secret Service and NYPD officer Dan Bongino will air in the 6pm hour, while suspense author turned conservative commentator Andrew Klavan will be heard in the 9pm hour. Klavan’s father, Gene Klavan was morning host at 1130 WNEW New York from 1952-1977.

I would be interested to know how Rush's avg ratings compare KFI vs KEIB (or Sean Hannity KABC vs KEIB)

At the time the chance was made in 2014, KFI was a top rated station. But the change wasn't made for ratings. Local talk made more money for iHeart, so they moved all the syndication to its own station.

Way to not answer his question.

The answer is obvious. Rush's ratings dropped. But as I said, iHeart factored that when they made the move. Why else would they move one of their own syndicated talents to another station? It wasn't personal or political, it was business. The move hasn't hurt KFI at all.

And when the answer does come that Rush's ratings went down, they will act like it is a real apples to apples comparison without mentioning that he is now on a much worse signal instead of on KFI's blowtorch.

It's not just the signal. KEIB is all syndicated. No local programming. In other markets where iHeart did this, the results were the same.

Here is a interesting hypothetical for you... Say air america had done well and was thriving and iheart was makin alot of money from progressive talk?

What would iheart have done then? I bet they wouldnt have touched kfi and kept it as is.

Like i said its neither here nor there just fun playin what if?

The problem for iHeart is that Air America was a competing syndicator. Premiere is in-house. So they make money on both national and local spots.

While I appreciate the spirit of the inquiry, the point is somewhat moot. Air America was a terrible product that couldn't make a go of it except for the most liberal of localities (I know, I know, they got BOFFO ratings in... Oregon!).

I believe Rush and Hannity are both on over 600 stations with undisputed national audiences and followings for decades. It helps that they are professional broadcasters, instead of people like Air America's featured morning man, who was a prior failed-comic and future-failed senator with no other radio experience. Their attitude, was "its so easy, it's just radio". Uh-huh.
