Even though Houston isn't L.A., marketwise, being co-anchor is a strategic career move and KHOU is a CBS affiliate. I'm sure Ms. Hernandez has her eye on New York.

Look Greg Hurst is an ex-WABC anchor before he was replaced by Robb Hanrahan.
Incidentaly WFOR CBS O&O in Miami from 2003-2008 had a former WABC anchor Hanrahan and former KABC anchor Maggie Rodriguez (later of CBS News).
But look we had Art Rascon of KABC go to Texas, and we had Minerva perez from KTLA to do news in Texas.
Look theres been a trend from Corporations and residents from California since the Gray Davis recall to move to Texas.
Houston is now the 4th largest city (population) in America, and growing fast. Not a bad move for Hernandez, at all. From Houston to Chicago or New York, or back to LA - or just a long career staying in Houston - it's all good.

I agree and there was another person from LA who went to Texas Ross Palombo. He worked at KCBS/KCAL in 2006 then he had a short stint at KGO in 2007 until he went to Texas to anchor the News for KENS 5 in 2008 before doing the CBS overnight News that airs at 2AM. I know when Ross Palombo went to CBS News he teamed up with Former KTVU reporter Priya David from 2009-2010. We all know Ross Palombo on KRON 4 from top rated TV station in SFO in the 1990's to life support for the last 10 years.
Yes - Palumbo is an excellent reporter. As I remember it, he was one of about a dozen reporters at KRON who jumped ship about 2003 as the station lost their NBC affiliation and started to unravel - after being purchased by those Young Broadcasting morons.
