Kansas City supports 3 full signal FM country stations. 2 of them consist of tight playlists of mainly current songs. KFKF, however, is the market leader and plays a significant amount of gold from the 80's and even the 70's.
St. Louis, on the other hand, has 2 full signal FM country stations. 93.7 The Bull has a very narrow playlist and WIL doesn't go that deep into the 90's anymore.
Are the demographics in these two markets such that country music, particularly older country music, is more popular in KC? Or is corporate ownership in St. Louis just reluctant to expand the playlists?
