KATD Has Filed a license to Cover Appilcation of it's CP

KATD AM 990
City of License: Pittsburg

New Tranmitter Site: Sloughhouse
10 kw D, 5 kw N, DA-2

Can anyone verify if the station has been testing the Sloughhouse transmitter site. If it's on at full power, the signal should be in your face tohughout most of the market during the day and in the Western part of the market (Ie.. City of Sacramento, Davis, Elk Grove) at night.

Since I'm nearly 400 miles away, I can't listen.

Thanks and Caio!

I haven't really listened to them since the days they ran A's baseball, but the signal seems way stronger in Pioneer than it used to be. So I suspect it's running from Sloughouse.

Having worked AM-drive at KATD in 1998 when its transmitter was
(repeatedly) in malfunction-mode, it's difficult to say whether it's on the
daytime pattern at night from their present Collinsville site, or if they are
broadcasting from Sloughhouse...
Nonetheless, the signal is quite strong in Lodi at night, when it clearly
should NOT be if they were on night-pattern from Collinsville. At least it was strong at 8:30 pm this past Sunday evening, somewhat similar to the day-pattern use at night in the early-1980s (when I used to listen in Stockton to Al 'Jazzbo' Collins on late Saturday nights) and late-1990s (during my time there). I need to look at those proposed KATD coverage maps again to verify...

The reason for the transmitter problems in Collinsville was due to repeated
vandalism at the rural xmtr site, which routinely causes problems on the
nighttime directional array...

And to think, there's been talk about KSFO 560 moving to that site if they
increase power! I hope they increase the xmtr fortress if they do...

KATD is stronger than it has ever been in Rancho Cordova, CA. Great Coverage 24/7.
Same For STOCKTON! 24/7

KATD 990 is broadcasting from the new site south of Sacramento both day and night. The daytime power is 10KW and night is 5KW.

This has been in the plans for many years. I know Arthur Liu personally (the main owner) and there has been many delays on this project. They would have sold the station for a lot less if someone else had built out the new facility.

At this time they are stuck with the City of License at Pittsburg. This places it in the San Francisco market which makes it worth much less money than if it were licensed to Sacramento (or a nearby city) and placed in the Sacramento market.

Can anyone guess why?
