KAZD drops Spectrum News 1 simulcast, Spectrum News 1 reverts to being exclusive to Spectrum cable costumers.

after 3 years of being simulcasted on Weigel's KAZD, Spectrum News 1 Dallas-Fort Worth is no longer airing on KAZD channel 55, as it seems Weigel had a 3 year deal with Charter Communications to stream the regional cable news channel has expired and thus it was dropped from channel 55.1, for now, KAZD is airing MeTV+ on both 55.1 and 55.4 with MeTV+ airing on HD on 55.1 and 55.4 in SD.

and with that, Spectrum News 1 reverts back to being exclusive to Spectrum costumers on channel 1 on Spectrum cable channel lineups across DFW as well as streaming via Spectrum News' site and apps (with a Spectrum account log in to access it).

it sucks non-Spectrum customers lose access to the channel, but at the same time, it was being beaten in the ratings by KDFW Fox 4, KXAS NBC 5, WFAA Channel 8 (and the ABC News programing as well as WFAA's local news), KTVT CBS (11) Texas and of course 24/7 news streaming channels of 4, 5, 8 and 11 as well. most likely if Spectrum still wants it on all other providers, i'm sure i wouldn't be surprised if it moves to channel 47.1 since Merit TV went bankrupt and that network maybe fold later this year.

If Spectrum wants to make money off these localized "News 1" feeds, they need to allow them to be broadcast OTA. Cable has fewer and fewer subscribers all the time.
